Are we now going to be a DINO?

If you don't know who J. Michael Luttig is, he was appointed by President George H. W. Bush, formerly served on the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit for 15 years. He advised Vice President Mike Pence on January 6. He recently issued a warning regarding the 2024 election that was printed by CNN. It is worth reading regardless of your political stance. And it is terrifying if you are on the left, as I am, or believe in our democratic republic. I suppose if you are a Trumpite, you might find it comforting. No matter your stance, if you are not concerned about the use of power to overturn an election, you should be. Once that happens, we, like the often-touted RINOs, will be Dinos --a democracy in name only. I am not sure how to link this article but will try to do so below.
Retired federal judge J. Michael Luttig writes that the Republicans' mystifying claim to this day that Trump did, or would have, received more votes than Joe Biden in 2020 were it not for actual voting fraud, is but the shiny object that Republicans have t

It does concern me that our leader are moving toward a global power that includes taking over the U S as the sole super power in our world stage soon.

@divalounger There are stories in magazines that the U S and Great Britain will not longer by the world superpower since a new United States of Europe will lead world events in the near future.

@Deepizzaguy that could be the case. Certainly, the U.S. is a declining power--power waxes and wanes

I am not a liberal by any means. Except if we are talking peace and love and flowers in the hair. But the days are long gone of this country's glory and yes I took a read of the article. I am not in fear though.

I don't know--my family escaped authoritarian rule once--I am not so happy at the prospect of living under it here.

@RebeccasFarm I am not sure that I live in fear--I am a realist though--and looking fully at an issue can be very informative when you are making decisions.

@divalounger I surely do not want that, but I refuse to live in fear. I am sorry to hear of your family but glad they escaped. My family also did as well.

The article is an opinion piece, and I have not given CNN the time of day since they asked Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf where the troops planned to strike next during Desert Storm. That is how untrustworthy I find their reporting to be. And I agree with George and Snowy. What is happening in and two the United States of America is concerning and embarrassing.

did you read the piece? Or will you not read it because it is on CNN regardless of who wrote it? The guy is a hard liner conservative--

@divalounger Yes, I did, and it did not make what J. Michael Luttig had written anything other than an opinion. All news outlets have biases about something. CNN's bias is among the worst.

@Chellezhere He is not someone that I generally agree with--the fact that such a conservative figure is saying this out loud gives me pause--regardless of where the article is placed.

There people who still support candidates who already out of the power. People knew better now than trusting the leader of the country.
