"Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word" was written by the duo of Elton John and Bernie Taupin and was released in 1976.
Taupiin said that the song tells the story of something that just about everyone experiences and can relate to. People want to save a relationship even though they know it's failing. It's heartbreaking.
"It's sad (so sad) so sad
It's a sad sad situation
And it's getting more and more absurd
It's sad (so sad ) so sad
Why can't we talk it over?
Oh, it seems to me that sorry seems to be the hardest word."
It reached #1 on the US Billboard Easy Listening chart and #1 in Canada on the Canada RPM Adult Contemporary chart.

Poor Blue Moves (the album this song was on). It would have made a great EP. Or a reasonably good single LP. As a double LP, it was pretty lame.
This is a great song. The first song on side three (not that I ever had the album or anything ).

Of all the songs Elton John sings, my favorite is "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road".

It's definitely one of his and Bernie's better ballads.
