I won't let my teenagers go to some place without me having all the information. I have laid the rules loud and clear. It would be a big NO in this kind of situation.

I totally agree with @Marilynda1225. 14 is way too young to go to a hotel party.

I didn't go on holiday on my own without my parents until I was in my 40's! Unless you count with the Church, we went to Youth Retreats with the Youth group but my Mum was OK with that because she knows I was with the Youth from Church and the Youth leaders were very responsible.

Well, an hour from home and you can't talk to the parents, there is no way I would let a 14 year old go to that party. If he wants to go badly enough, he will provide the information. Hopefully there will be an adult or two there!

I have a 17 year old and there is no way I would let her go to a hotel party. Besides, if the kid is not willing to comply about parent communication (which is necessary and for safety reasons), then they are not yet responsible enough to go to such a party.

I just think you are right since you can't be sure about the place he or she is going.

He is at the stage 5 of Erik Erikson Psychosocial Development Theory..Adolescents tend to want to explore their independence and sense of self. But being adults, we can guide them.It feels like you need more info why he would go there...
