Afternoon Delight

The title of this one-hit-wonder by the Starland Vocal Band became a euphemism for a little unplanned mid-day romance. I was just old enough when it came out in 1976 to understand what the song meant by Afternoon Delight. It has been said that the racy innuendo of the song's lyrics was what made it so popular. I have seen it referred to in the comments accompanying the video as "The cleanest dirty song ever ..." Afternoon Delight actually won a Grammy for Best Vocal Arrangement for Two or More Voices and was nominated for a Grammy for Record of the Year.

Wouldn't find a song like that these days. It's a good song. Look, I almost made it through a post without calling you old man. :P

It’s not great, but it’s not KC & the Sunshine Band, either…..

I thought the harmonizing was nicely done. Their voices blended well. Plus, come right down to it, the song was a bit on the naughty side and appealed the the teenage boy I was then.

They're clever lyrics and certainly very suggestive.

I remember singing that song when it played on the radio, My mother made my father change the station. He laughed. I was 10.
