They are getting a divorce over THIS?

My youngest daughter called this evening and we chatted for a bit, then facetime with the grands, then chatted a bit more. She said work was stressful and too busy, but everything else was good. One of her co-workers had to take time off to file for divorce and I guess, fight with her soon-to-be ex. The reason for her wanting a divorce is so unreal, I was astonished.
She is divorcing him because he doesn't load the dishwasher or the washing machine the way she wants him to. That's the reason she is telling people. I mean, seriously??? People do this??? With kids ages 2, 4, and 6, I would consider them fortunate to even get the dishes IN the dishwasher, or the clothes in the washer. Of course it's known that the lady has not faced the real reason, that she just picked this one because she doesn't want to deal with the real reason, whatever it is. Her husband is a nice guy, a social worker who works hard. She has a good job, too. It's not money, she's just mad.
Some of the co-workers suggested they go to a counselor and that went over like a lead balloon with her. She said she just wants him to load the dishwasher and the washer how she told him to do it. I've heard of wanting full control, but this is ridiculous.

I agree. She is picking on little problems and no doubt avoiding the subject of her anger.

@MarieCoyle that’s true. She should be honest about what truly bothers her.

Some people find it more satisfying to just pin the blame on someone else. It could be his fault, it could be hers, but the reason she is giving everyone just sounds so silly. I bet the lawyer will tell her this reason just won't fly in court.

Just because that's what she tells people doesn't mean that's really what the problem is or are. I tell people that my first wife put her feet on me while I was asleep because they were cold. (I HATE someone putting their feet on me!) But if that was the only reason, I could have just slept on the couch instead of in the bed with her. What people tell us usually isn't the truth or at least, not all the truth.

@MarieCoyle True... and I tried sleeping on the couch. My wife waited until I fell asleep and stuck her feet on me to warm them up... while I was sleeping on the couch. I woke the house up screaming about it!

I would have freaked out, too. Or retaliated in some way. My ex did that for awhile, I hated it so much. One day he got in the shower, I had a bucket of super cold water and ice cubes all ready. I tossed it over the shower door and did he ever scream! It was great. He never did the cold feet on me again. Served him right!

I get this. Lots of us don't tell things. We are either embarrassed or just don't want to reveal the real reason, and it's not always cold feet! jk

I'm pretty sure there's more to it than just dishwasher issues - yah, she's not fooling anyone. That's not grounds for divorce. There's probably a whole laundry list of things things he didn't do the way she wanted - and the washer thing was the straw that broke the camel's back. I would hope they would get counseling or do something to work it out . . . obviously there are deeper roots to their problems .

@MarieCoyle She is the one having to deal with this potential divorce - she can't fool herself.

The kids just want harmony in cases like this. No child wants their parents fighting all the time.

From what I understand right now she is making her entire family miserable. Her 6 year old told her father to throw the dishwasher and the washing machine away, so mommy wouldn't be mad anymore. So wrong.

Wow,the reason of divorce is very ridculous, just for dishwasher or washing machine.I highly doubt the lady maybe love aonther man instead of husband,so she just find a inferior excuse for divorce, her huband,a poor man,he is so miserable.I bet even he don't know what happened between he and wife.

Yes, there has to be another reason, a real reason, for her unhappiness. Marriage is give and take, acceptance of each other's strengths and weaknesses. That's just how it is, and of course this is all so ridiculous on her part.

I think someday she will look back on this time and realize just how silly this all was. People need to just put it on the table, tell each other what's wrong, and get it over with instead of just fabricating reasons to justify their actions.

Individuals frequently meet up for huge things yet separate due to little things

In life there are always going to be little and big problems. How we handle them speaks volumes.
