If you take Caltrain to the San Bruno station, you can see the South San Francisco sign on the mountain. It says South San Francisco the Industrial city. This sign was created in the 1920s and is listed in the national register of historic places. It is located in Sign Hill Park in South San Francisco. The sign is th main feature of the park, which has hiking trails. The city once had mainly heavy industry like shipbuilding, steel and cement plants, and meat packing, but there was a gradual shift to light industry and then to high tech and biotech companies. The largest employer in the city today is Genentech. AS for the sign, it can be seen from planes.

I did not know that the sign that reads South San Francisco is in the area since the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles gets all of the attention from either the internet or You Tube channels.

Yes, both are in California. However, the sign here is in Northern California, near San Francisco, while the Hollywood sign is in Southern California.

I can see it says San Francisco, but what else does it say?
