Baby Bluebirds Six Days Old

Five baby bluebirds in my backyard bluebird house. I check on these babies every day. Just once a day. The house has a door. I am able to take a peek just to make sure they are safe.
I posted a week ago about being so excited about bluebirds in Dustin's garden, after two years of waiting. They are more than just a bird to me. I feel my son's presence around when I am in the garden. A long story there, I will just say that these birds are very special to me for many reasons.
Snapped this photo yesterday evening. They are six days old now. Their eyes will be opening any day now. The blue feathers are just starting to come in. Both parents are feeding and taking care of them. One more week before they fledge. I will enjoy them while I can.
Little things to enjoy in life. No drama. Savoring the moments of what is around me. Nature. Birds. Rain. Not much else is needed.
Photo is mine.

@CarolDM and you know I live through your posts since I don't get to see baby birds up close like this. The only birds I get to see up close are the ones who love to poop on my deck

You're so right, there is no negativity nor drama with this nice little nest of baby birds.
I had a really nice day today at work.
When I finished my manager video called me, and we chatted for about 45 minutes together.
That was so nice to connect, we work in such a virtual world, it was nice to actually chat with someone one on one and laugh and speak about personal things that we cannot talk about at work. He showed me a video that his daughter took yesterday at the high school when her brother won 2nd place in track and field. Just little things that friends would share at work if we were at work in the same place.

@CarolDM Don't dread that day, life is too short, you remind me of that all of the time, savour and enjoy the days that they are in the nest in your backyard.
Yes, I am so fortunate to have such a good rapport with my manager. I did not think that I would have that with this manager, I was awfully close to my old manager who left our department a year ago. I miss her but we text now and again. We have not totally lost contact.

They make my day every single day. Already dreading when they leave. But I am so excited they have chosen this special spot to raise their precious babies. And five is a lot of babies. How special to have that time with your manager. It does mean a lot, especially in these days lately.

@CarolDM I did not see it the first time. When you said you can see it, I took a second look.

@CarolDM that's great. And no other birds ever try to use it?

@MarshaMusselman Last year the tree swallows raised their family in it, that is why I had no bluebirds. But in ten years that is the only time it has happened. Other than the sparrows getting in and killing the bluebirds. That happened a few weeks ago.

I have a huge garden and so many trees but I do not see any nests anywhere.
You are so blessed.

@CarolDM Cats could be the reason why birds do not like to build their nests here.

@allknowing They are in a house. But I have seen more nests this year than ever. Outside cats are their biggest predator.

“Don’t take my picture, FEED ME!”
So ugly (they look like they’re’ not fully formed when they first hatch), and yet so beautiful!

One Indian bulbul has made nest in my terrace garden and there are three eggs there. I am all thrilled. Last season we had three of those babies. I remember posting the picture of them enjoying the meal time together.
