Crossed Wires Can Lead To Amusing Situations.

So my Dad called me to discuss some family business, and after we took care of it and had a nice chat, we ended the call. 2 minutes later my phone rang again, and it was Dad. I guess the rural lines got crossed. He’s trying to make other calls, and it’s been dialing me every time. Dad’s a Boomer, and knows how to memorize and manually dial a phone number, not relying on speed dial. Every number he dials, my phone rings. I’ve been answering the phone in a diffeeent language every time.

That's the usual cause or defect of a landline.

You have been answering your dad's calls in different languages. That must be confusing him yet more

Fortunately he recognizes my voice every time, and by the time we got it figured out he was laughing hysterically. We both were.

I often answer the phone by saying something other than hello, trying to confuse spammers.

I remember that happening when I was a kid and we had a party line! I bet your dad enjoyed that!

Maybe there could be a technical problem with the phone or network
