Look what the cat brought in

Just saying it had to be the cat, right? Otherwise, from whence did they come? We had ants in the bathroom of all places. I've no idea how they gained entry as we never saw them moving from the entry to the bathroom. In the last four days we probably killed forty of them. I think we finally got them all out the majority because yesterday I didn't see any but my husband did kill two. I think it has something to do with the weird weather we've had so far this year but maybe not. I do know many other people have had the same ants in their houses too. It's the first time we've had ants in five years. I bought some big spray and plan on spraying the perimeter soon just to keep them out. Btw, we don't have any cats.

I've been lucky in regard to inhome ants but there are tons of carpenter ants on my property, it's what lives in our deserts.

Carpenter ants don't make mounds, they just gather all the little pebbles they can to line their hole.

These may have been the carpenter ones as they were bigger than normal ants. We have ant hills in the driveway too. Hopefully those don't try to come inside.

Yes, we used to have ants too. They were all over the kitchen work surfaces. We found where they were coming from and put powder down, inside and out. That did the job. We used to have flying ants too. They were even worse being able to fly aswell!

The odd thing is these weren't in the kitchen. Maybe they like moist places rather than food. I've no idea.

@MarshaMusselman Maybe it was because of the moisture? Maybe they were attracted to moisture. I don't know.

@sharonelton that's what I was wondering too.

@MarshaMusselman Yes those too Marsha. I cannot keep any plants in here, not that I would because of gnats.

@RebeccasFarm I don't find insects drawn to my plants at all

I know it causes other types of bugs to be around especially fruit flies.

I experienced the same a few weeks ago, plenty of ants inside the kitchen. Now they are all gone.

@MarshaMusselman - I only killed some, but two days later there were no more ants in the kitchen.

Did they disappear on their own or did you kill them all and they've not been back?

I blame the cat for bugs in the house. We do have a cat.

@paigea some people that I talked to recently have seen them coming thru their front doors but this time that didn't happen. I thought maybe they were coming in the bathroom window but that's not been opened either. So I just don't know how they came in.

In the hot summer months we get other bugs in the house. I wonder if they come thru the screens.

A catchy title enticing people to read it, to find out as to what? Ants do enter to houses due to weather, due to foods, and some reasons. Generally ants are beneficial to humans to suppress fest and aerate soil.

They are more beneficial when they remain outside though.

@Nakitakona are all ants that way? We've had them in the past for several months if I remember correctly. At that time they hung around our living room

@MarshaMusselman But usually they don't stay inside the house for they provide foods for their queen.

During the summer they will sometimes come in for water.

I did wonder if the moisture in the bathroom was what drew them there or what.

After reading your post I remembered what happened 4 days ago, at that time I was taking a shower and suddenly a big winged ant fell on the floor, then I looked at the bathroom ceiling I saw a lot of ants flying, I didn't finish my shower I immediately went out and turned it off bathroom lights so they don't come in anymore. I sprayed pest poison in the bathroom so that they left immediately and did not come again and the pest poison worked so well that the ants did not come again until now

I'll probably spray around the pipes and places of possible entry just in case they're coming from the basement. But I hope that's not the case either.
