Summertime to me is enjoying a "Lazy Day" on my front porch just chilling. Or maybe having some friends over for a "Get Together" and barbecue. So, here are a few more of my favorite summer tunes. The band Spanky and Our Gang's song "Lazy Day" leads off today's summertime playlist. Enjoy, this 60's classic video while you daydream of some ice cream or a walk in the park... Here's this week's roundup of my playlist songs with a summer feel: Comments, musings, and trivia welcome... 1. Spanky & Our Gang- Lazy Day -The group's biggest hit "Sunday Will Never Be the Same," had a totally opposite vibe than "Lazy Day's happy theme of people taking pleasure in doing whatever they enjoy with ones they love on a perfect summer day. Fun fact: The group took its name from the "Our Gang" TV comedies of the 30's better known by fans as "The Little Rascals." 2. The Youngbloods- Get Together -The band covered "Get Together" which was originally titled "Let's Get Together" in 1967 with little chart success. But in 1969, the tune about unity and fellowship was re-released at the height of the peace movement, and it became a big hit reaching #5 on the charts. Fun fact: The song was used in the movie Forrest Gump. TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. Let's see how many answers you know. See if you can guess this third one and the bonus... Name today's tune, artist or facts: 3. This song was the second of three 60's #1 hits for this band. The other two were "Good Lovin'" and "People Got to Be Free." The song is about relaxing or chillin' on a Sunday afternoon. The song title is a variation of the word "Groovy," which was a very popular slang term of the 60's. -Do you know this band and their song? Bonus Trivia: A. In the song video "Lazy Day" they sing about picking a "certain type flower." Do you know this flower species? B. The video song also mentions some balloons in the lyrics. What "color" were the balloons? If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as James Taylor would say "You've Got A Friend" if you need a helping hand. Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

Funny trivia, I never used either groovy or groovin, most kids I knew back then used the term far out. How funny, right?

OH yeah, forgot about that one. I still hear one term now and then by younger folks, 'digit' oh, yeah and a second one, 'man' I haven't a clue why those two got so popular.

@rebelann Remember I'm going to "catch some rays." That would be appropriate even today to use by young people.

Are you a groovin’ young rascal? Just you and me and Leslie! Does Daisy know they were picking her in that song? And does Nina know about their 99 red balloons?????

Aha, as they say in the 60's that song is a "gas." (not fuel or the embarrassing kind) Is that Daisy in America's Daisy Jane? When listening to that balloon song it makes me want to look for a needle to make it end Thanks for the fun comments. They were "far out!"
