I was opting to save money so I tried to stay in a room only apartment here in London. And although it was really good value for money and good location, I would say I got unlucky with the flatmates. The house didn't have good sound proofing and these inconsiderate party animals came home at 3 AM and was arguing in the kitchen. Part of me wanted to tell them off as I had an early appointment but I didn't want to be the grinch. This morning now we have morning traffic in the toilet. I think this could be great if I was sharing the house with friends. Not total strangers.

That would be better. Can you politely ask them to quiet down at 3 AM? Even some party animals are considerate toward others.

@flapiz I can send you my lecture notes about "assertiveness." It does not "dis-empower" others involved.

@TheHorse I have always had issues with assertiveness. I think that would do me good.

Oh my, those people are rude and selfish. Do you have to stay long there? If it is the case you must have a word with them.

Thankfully just for a night so I don't miss my visa appointment. This area is expensive so I had to skint and share. I couldn't risk another subway strike.

@LadyDuck I know it is common courtesy to be at least quiet on sleep hours when you're sharing a flat. Good thing I was exhausted so I was able to sleep again.

Oh no, I believe you should go to a new location where you can live in peace with your roommates. I believe I would prefer to remain in a room where my housemates are quiet and leave me alone.

@flapiz I see that is just a temporary place for you. I thought that will be your permanent place to stay in already. I hope that you can find a place of your own so you can be living comfortably there.

@rsa101 Nah i'd die if it was. I mean there are 3 rooms here and each room can accommodate a couple. Just one bathroom and shower. Nah. Max of people I'd share a bathroom with is 1.

In an ideal world I would rather not have a housemate. Or if I have one it should be someone I know. But a little discomforting for one night is okay. I just needed a cheap place for the night for my visa appointment.

In your case, I would try to seek for another apartment. People don´t change much. Your flatmates will want to keep on going to parties and, above all, to parties where they drink too much.

I would never share a flat/room with strangers as I would not know their nature and habit.

I had no choice as I am running low on savings. Most hotels in this area cost 500£ a night. And i cannot risk renting away from here in case of another subway strike.

Some are just inconsiderate. You can't make sense to them. Maybe, still you can explain your predicament when they are sober. The last option is to vote with your feet!

If i was you,i will move to a single room,I can't bear living with another one.I had my own living habit, regular sleep, regular reading,i can't bear these habit was disturbed by a roommate. In addition, getting along with a roommate take too many time and energy,i prefer a personal space in a single room, trust me,you want a single room for sure.

I love my personal space, specially personal bathroom. But this area where my visa appointment is, is quite a posh area and I don't want to spend 500£ for a night. This is 75£ so I am enduring it for the night. London can be very expensive. This area is close to big businesses so it's even pricier.

@flapiz ,speaking of price, then i can understand you chose flatmates,we have to compromise on house with high price.I can't say you make a wrong decision. In terms of saving, you are right to live with flatmates.however, when you can afford a single flat, should move home right away.
