I May 'Know' But Do I Also 'Observe'?

It is amazing how paying attention to small nuances in meaning can enrich our understanding of a text. I was reading the text for the day, and it read as follows: 'make disciples....teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.' This was Jesus, speaking to his followers, prior to his return to the heavens. He didn't just say, 'teach them what I've told you', he said 'teach them to OBSERVE what I have taught you' Knowledge is good, but observing, or obeying or following through on what we have learned is crucial. Many 'know' what is said, but how many actually 'observe'? Sobering thought.

I remember my pastor telling me that studying the BIble meant not just reading, but reading and applying.

It is hard to take things to heart sometimes, and even harder to put them into practice.

My religion taught the same think. We are demanded to observe, to think and not only to receive a knowledge that had been given

The apostle Paul indicated that more is needed that merely knowing something, he said: '...they have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge.' So there is a difference between a casual understanding and accurate knowledge - because it affects our entire outlook on life. We must continually take in knowledge and apply it in our day to day lives to benefit ourselves and those around us.

@sulynsi I often see that a person who have a deep understanding in their beliefs and apply it in daily activities have a calm soul and not easy to get pissed off. The world need more people like this

That is a very enlightening thought. I never thought of that before. Don't just teach them what you were taught, but teach people how to put it into practice.
