My love for Bernard

When I was a kid, we had a pet dog who lived for so long, about 16 years. The only time our dog, Bernard, passed was when he got lost when hubby had to be taken to the hospital for quite a long time so we were out of the house for 3 weeks. We looked for him around the neighborhood when we found out he was not there in the house. Bernard was a dog who was very independent. He could jump out of our tall gate and can have the means to find food for himself and return to our house with no big deal. Had been doing this for 16 years but it was only this time that we can no longer find him. Too sad.
