Today was another positive experience for me being a busser at Winking Lizard, though it was a hot day today. Compared to last week, it was more active and a lot to do to stay fast-paced and on my toes. Besides setting the table, I also set the tables outside in the patio and helped one with the waitresses. Then I bagged another round of pulled pork in 5 ounce bag, and scooped macaroni and cheese into 7.5 to-go containers this time around.
As for free lunch, yep! Though servers gets tips, the kitchen staff gets a free lunch this week. So both Allie and I did get a free lunch, though she wants me to get a smaller one to eat in 15 minutes for my break. Then she gave me a quick food handling lesson on swapping gloves for each food prep task, washing hands every so often, and cleaning my gloves with a wet towel, so I won't get pork juice or cheese sauce on the bags or to-go containers. Then I bagged wild rice for 7.5 ounces each and placed them in the freezer. I did make a spill on the floor and had to clean it up. Allie said they're going to challenge me to keep my station cleaner just like she's doing it to being tougher on me. I've got this for the rest of the week.
Lastly, since I didn't do the baked beans or the rest of the high chairs and boosters, I dusted the closed seating section from wall to wall, picture to picture, top to bottom, with a duster broom until time was up. Allie also wants me to be more vocal for asking for help, saying hello, thank you, and having a good day to the staff. So that's easy enough to do and fix for the remaining three days left to close out my job assessment tests.
That's a wrap on Day Two's recap of what I did today. Stay cool and see you tomorrow at the halfway mark.

Good grief you are doing all kinds of things, from the minute you get there until the minute you leave!

It seems like you like this, and I hope it will continue to work out for you. Different strokes for different folks. My first long term job was as a busser in a restaurant. I hated it, but I am not really one for hard work.

Sounds like you're enjoying it. She's right you do need to wash frequently and swap gloves to prevent cross contamination. But, you're getting it.
