I have recently done one huge purchase in my life: a HOUSE! I have never thought that i would do it in such a young age but we can never really predict our lives, right? I have moved last year across my country - Portugal - to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world - Algarve ( if you never heard of this place, google it, you won't regret it). Suddenly the idea came to my mind "What if I bought a house instead of always pay a rent for something that will never be mine". So here I am, typing from my own living room. It is so beautiful and scary at the same time. What about you? Do you have your own house? Do you pay rent? Tell me all about it.

Portugal is a place of many natural beauties. I'm glad you have your home. I pay rent and dream of having my house the way I always dreamed of.

@fufurinha I've never been. But in Brazil we always see many reports about Portugal. It's beautiful.

I also bought a house when I was around 25yrs old but I have to sell it because I have to live with my husband here in Germany. It is hard to maintain it. We can`t buy our own house here because it is really expensive but I am happy for you. Enjoy

@fufurinha We paid cash, we saved during many years to buy the house because we did not want to have a mortgage to pay.

I've owned several houses in my life and have rented houses, too. Right now I'm renting again and like not having to find the money to pay for things that break down or pay high taxes every year. Which is better just depends on your physical abilities and your finances at the time.

Yes, I own home and I fully paid it off within five years. Most people can't say that. But, good for you on buying a house.

@fufurinha That is good. Here in UK it is quite hard if you're buying alone with no partner to help you pay.

We have had a few houses in our life and still do. No rent, no mortgage, but very high municipal taxes.
