Twitter's Moving Up in the Blog-archy, with ''Notes''

Twitter was always "a microblog" before (140- and then 280-character posting-limit, with no editing a post after you post it), but they're testing "Notes"---a function that'll let users send 2,500 words (with a 100-character title), and edit their Notes after posting (granted, you DO have to 'notate' ( 'note'-ate) all the edits you've made) https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/twitter-is-testing-notes-a-new-longform-format/ar-AAYLLYj?ocid=BingHomepageQuiz I've always thought of Twitter as 'the card-catalog on the Internet's library' (or probably more like 'the TV GUIDE channel on the Internet's cable-TV'), where--aside from the 'passionate comments' (which now make up the super-majority of the tweets)--I would post 'a title (& maybe a little description) and a link' to my latest discussion or blog-post. The limited character-limit is the main reason I do most of my writing on myLot or Blogger, but now the only reason I'll come back to myLot is ... YOU (and of course the money you help me get ). You can follow me on Twitter @mythmanjay to see what happens there. Will YOU shift more of your writing/reading time to Twitter if they give EVERYONE access to Notes? (or maybe they should limit the Notes-function to 'those of us with at-least "a certain number" of Followers,' huh?)

I joined Twitter when Twitter first became a thing but left it in 2010 because it had become too political. Before 2010, Twitter was a fantastic place for me to find writing prompts. All I had to do was scroll down the feed, and - BOOM! There would be another something interesting to write. At this time, I am not in any hurry to rejoin the platform and may never choose to come back to it at all.

@Chellezhere Well, I thought of the #WritingCommunity when you mentioned 'writing prompts.' But not because they'd provide writing prompts, but more because they are mostly 'already prompted' writers---reporting 'how much they've written' or 'that they've been hired to do scriptwriting' or something. And I've gotten a writing-prompt or two from the #ClearTheList-community ... mostly about 'how parents need to invest more in their children's schooling.'

@mythociate ............Interesting. I see it as one huge world with many different cities to visit. I like Twitter and rarely visit others except for Facebook.

I read Twitter, and not even much of that anymore. I rarely tweet and I don't get into long debates with people I don't know over Twitter. Maybe it will get better under Elon Musk, but it's hard to lure people back once they've moved on. There are other platforms for short updates and posts now. Twitter going long form seems to me to mean that they've admitted they lost their appeal to other platforms and have decided to become Facebook instead.

Or maybe they're becoming "Blogger/Wordpress."

I did and still posting links to my online posts on Twitter as well. But nowadays, I usually go there to get the latest news about my favorite boy band, BTS. That's where their fandom, ARMY, gets announcements of upcoming activities of the band and its members. Their account usually broke Twitter records of the most twitted, RT'd, and like tweets getting more than 1 to 2 million tweets within less than a day. My tweets and RTs rarely reach 100. So, you can see how massive their influence is. I agree that Twitter should give everyone access to Notes, so users can expound more on their tweets. It's good that we can write as many words as we can here on MyLot however, the rules prohibit posting links to your own blog posts, Hence, it's not so good on promoting posts. Well, a link to your site is permitted in your user profile though.
