12 Year Anniversary

Five days ago was mine and the fiance's 12th anniversary. Which is honestly so crazy to me. And not even because of our relationship being so up and down throughout the years, but because this is what I always wanted as a little girl. A lifelong love, relationship and friendship. Every girls dream, as far as I know. And I have it.
Unfortunately, neither of us slept well the night before or felt good - like usual. So we just went to a quick morning doctors appointment I had then took a nap, watched some tv, gave him his anniversary card and then later on went back out to pick up his iced coffee at Dunkin and something for us and my Mom to eat. (I had fried scallops and Mom had fish from our local seafood place, and he grabbed a fish filet and mcchicken at McDonald's).
It was all good, but wasn't the same as us going out to celebrate like almost all the other years.. So hopefully we can make that up at some point.
But yeah, 12 years with that one. All the smiles, laughs, late night and 2-6 hours long phone calls, pictures, snoring and teeth grinding (by him), activities we've done together, interest changes, loss of friends and pets, fears we've both conquered because of the other etc.. and even all the tears, heartache and fighting that I've endured, has brought me/us here.. to our 12th Anniversary. That's crazy.
And now we're on our way to adding another year to it! And making so many more memories, even if only in the house from never feeling good (still, ugh).
Photo is mine. He took it about three weeks ago and I love it.

@kaylachan yes. It's common these days to get engaged and not want to get married. Especially when there are things you can't do if married.

No marriage in our future. We don't want that.

@mom210 we're not getting married. We don't want to be. Engaged is perfectly fine for some and it is for us.

That is very true. Even in our first year together, we saw SO many couples end things and multiple relationships for some people in that time as well.

I really wish you guys could find good doctors that would help you out. I realized, as I looked at my little wind chimes, that I am missing seeing you around. I was pretty busy while Bob was in the hospital and now I am realizing just who is missing. Hugs and congrats.
