So, I had mentioned last week I went to a movie. There were people nearby who were talking during all of the coming attractions, and not whispering like most people have the consideration to do at the movies. Yak, Yak, Yak for like 20 minutes straight. Someone in front of me shushed them, but they were oblivious. It was getting on my nerves. I could have shushed them too, but I am a non confrontive sort, so I just changed my seat. Would you tell them to be quiet or just move like I did?

When that happens, you go and get the usher to quiet them. If they don't quiet down, the usher will escort them out of the movie theater. (That's why ushers are there.) Other people don't have the right to spoil your enjoyment of something you've paid good money to watch.

No, I wasn't going to make a federal case out of it. It was easy enough to just change seats. Besides if you go to find the usher you are going to miss things.

@DaddyEvil No one else did it...Maybe if there was no escape that would be appropriate, and to be honest they weren't the only ones talking, just the ones closest to me. You are right I did ask. However, there are plenty of "normal" responses to said situtation, that is why I asked.

@snowy22315 I'm glad you found a way that works for you. I'm sure the usher was just as happy to make his/her money without having to do his/her job.

Considering they were talking before the movie and not during I would have let it be. If the chatter continued during the movie I would have let the usher know and also found different seating.
The world is a crazy place and I worry about how people react when you confront them.

Yes, that is also a factor. I am glad I had the option to move. I have never asked an usher to intervene in my life, but usually if enough people shush the offending parties. They will shut up. Also, hopefully they didn't continue during the movie, but I wouldn't know cuz I moved.

What you did is appropriate. If they're sensitive enough they would minimize their conversations.

@snowy22315 If they're in their sound mind and considerate they will.

@Laurakemunto In today's day and age, you never know how someone is going to react anyway.

I wouldn't have minded shushing then especially if others were, but since there were seats elsewhere, I just moved.

As I said, I think they were oblvious to shushing. Somebody tried that.. Sigh! However, sometimes if enough people do it, they get the hint.

Yeah, not worth it. and tracking down an usher too much trouble, plus they would probably know who did it.

@snowy22315 Yes, all that would be too much trouble and you’d miss half the movie.

I would move seat also but before i leave my seat i would give them the stink eye to them knowing that they did something wrong and feel a bit of guilt thinking the next time they do it to someone else
