My Big Bargain!!

Happy Thursday Everyone! another sunny day here today but it's going to be hot. Definitely an inside day enjoying the a/c. I'm sure everyone loves a bargain. I know I do. Yesterday I was looking for yarn and came across something that caught my attention and would be perfect for a project I have in mind. Since I've been working on my daughters laptop there's this drop-down box that comes up that says you can buy this at "such and such" for this price and tells you where. Normally I don't pay attention but this time it said I can buy it at Walmart for $7 whereas the place I was looking was $16 for the exact same thing. So, I zipped over to the Walmart site and yup it was there and for the $7. Since it was a good price I ordered a few plus a few more of different colors, got free shipping and it wound up on my porch just a few hours later. Guess it pays to shop around especially when prices are so high these days. Have you gotten any good bargains lately?

I got a runner for the table in here for .75. I have been looking at all these home staging ideas, and they seem to all have runners on the table. I also got a really nice top for a buck.

That is an awesome price for a table runner. I have one on my dining room table and the side-board/buffet and it does make the table a little bit more fancy. Can't beat getting a top for a buck!! You did way better than me on the bargains

@Marilynda1225 I am telling you this church yardsale place has the best bargains you have ever seen. Who needs Goodwill? They had this fantastic marble inlay coffeetable for get this...10 bucks! Also, a cool floor lamp tested, for 3 bucks. I am telling you the place is a goldmine. They had lots of yarn there too, but since I have no need, I didn't look at the price.

Good for you. My brother-in-law has some yarn for me but I forgot to bring it home. He'd also like a beanie from some of the wool so I'll enjoy doing that for him.

@JudyEv that is very sad Judy. I guess if you make him a beanie from the wool it will give him a little reminder of her when he wears it. It's doubly sad having to dispose of stuff from someone you loved so much. I hope you find some nice projects as you unravel that wool.

@Marilynda1225 It's very sad. The yarn belonged to his wife. There is a back and sleeve of a man's jumper but not enough wool to finish it even if I had the pattern and the wool. There are also other half-finished garments but the wool to complete them is missing. It's probably in another bag somewhere and he'll come across it as he continues to clean out cupboards, etc. The knitting is really lovely - very even but the only thing I can do is unpick the pieces and use the wool in other ways.

I am finding less bargains lately. I may start browsing yard sales again. There is a tag sale that happens every other weekend and is just down the road from me. I go there often and have found a couple of things I can’t live without.

Going to a tag sale sounds like fun especially if you can find a few things you want at a good price.

I had two 20% off coupons that expired tomorrow, one for cheese, milk and dairy and the other for chocolate. I went out shopping this morning. Tomorrow I have to go to Aldi, only tomorrow $5 OFF a grocery shopping of $ 50. I am going to buy what I usually buy at Aldi.

@Marilynda1225 I bought my usual chocolate bars, they will be good also to make chocolate mousse. With the actual prices, I try to profit of every discount coupon that I find.

I hope you're having a good day. We started off this morning at 62F, so at 5 am I opened the doors and windows to let the fresh breeze blow through the house. (I closed the house back up around 9 am when the temp outside reached 75F.) We're headed for a high this afternoon of 88F. So not bad, like the last couple of weeks. We went this last Saturday to a local orchard and picked up some peaches and strawberries at a much lower price than we would have paid at Walmart, where we normally buy our groceries. Then came across an older gentleman selling watermelons out of his truck, so we bought three of them. (I ate a bowl of watermelon for my breakfast. It is delicious!)

@Marilynda1225 Peaches are my favorite fruit. If I could, I'd eat nothing but peaches until I couldn't buy them from the orchard anymore. (I have been known to do that in the past. Everybody kept telling me I'd make myself sick of them but I just grinned and ate bushel after bushel. Of course, I can't do that anymore. My doctor would kill me!) Watermelons come in a close second. Pretty and I eat a watermelon in two to three days. (I also have one section of the freezer that is quart Ziploc bags part-way filled with the best watermelon chunks from the summer. I eat those like they're ice cream all winter long.) Tell your daughter to drop you off here while she's gone on vacation. I promise to share my watermelons with you that long. My stomach was protesting being out of bed yesterday before we left for the allergist appointment and it never has settled down. My BP is back to normal this morning, so I took my regular meds. We went to Walmart this morning to pick up my prescriptions that were ready and I got the shingles vaccine while we were there. I'm still feeling tired from being at the doctor's for six hours yesterday.

@DaddyEvil I didn't know that you could freeze watermelon. Do you just cut it up and throw it in the freezer? Sounds like it would be something I would definitely enjoy and a healthier treat than the ice cream I love

My day is off to a pretty good start and I'm hoping it stays that way I love fresh peaches and you were lucky to get them at your local orchards. Most of my supermarkets don't have peaches that are all that sweet or juicy. My daughter is going on vacation so I won't get a watermelon until she comes home. I certainly couldn't eat a whole one by myself but I also love watermelon so I would eat it any time of the day or night, How are you feeling? hopefully better

I could never shop for 6 months at a time but you probably save a lot of money that way. The only things I stock up on is non-perishables for the house. Oherwise I'm always looks for yarn for a crocheting project or a good book to read.
