In 1946 country singer Johnny Lee was born in Texas. He had a number-one single on the Billboard Country chart in 1980 "Lookin' for Love" and had a series of country hits in the early and mid-1980s.
In 1958 country singer and record producer Aaron Tippin was born in Florida. . His debut single, "You've Got to Stand for Something" became a popular anthem for American soldiers fighting in the Gulf War. Tippin also scored the 1992 US Country number one hit "There Ain't Nothin' Wrong with the Radio."
In 1975 country singer Trent Tomlinson was born in Arkansas. His debut album Country Is My Rock, released in early 2006 produced three Top 40 singles on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs charts: "Drunker Than Me", "One Wing in the Fire" and "Just Might Have Her Radio On."
In 1980 singer and songwriter Sarah Buxton was born in Kansas. In 2012 she had a number one hit on the Country chart with David Nail "Let It Rain."
In 1980 The movie Honeysuckle Rose, starring Willie Nelson, made its world premiere in Austin, Texas. The plot sees Buck Bonham (Willie Nelson) a country singer, with a good family, struggling to find national fame. He juggles his music career with his responsibilities to his wife and son. He has everything going his way until the daughter of his former guitarist joins his tour. The road leads to temptation, which leads to his downfall.
In 1993 Garth Brooks was at number one on the Country chart with “That Summer” Written by Garth Brooks, Pat Alger, and Sandy Mahl and taken from his fourth studio album The Chase, the track also appears on The Hits, The Ultimate Hits, The Limited Series and Double Live.
In 2013 songwriter Johnny MacRae passed on. He wrote such country hits as Conway Twitty's "I'd Love to Lay You Down," Reba McEntire's "You Lift Me Up to Heaven," and Highway 101's "Whiskey, if You Were a Woman".

Boots Randolph passed away on this day in 2007. He was the most well-known saxophone player in Nashville (because for years he was the only one!). His recording, “Yakety Sax,” was the theme to The Benny Hill Show. He had other hits, and even sang!
