Nicely Done

I am always railing against some of the "non-perks," as I call them, of being a diamond member of Wyndham hotels. But today one I have stayed at consistently for three or so years straight has gotten it right.
Don't get me wrong. This is one of my favorites. They know me by name and they always treat me right. I want to make that abundantly clear. The rooms are always clean and the premises is always kept up nicely.
I am always left with the impression that the owner respects his place and appreciates his business.
It is an Americinn, so that's important to keep things in perspective, right?
I asked for a room on the second floor and I got it. I asked for a room facing Milwaukee street, not the parking lot and I got it. I asked for extra regular coffee and they gave me two extra single pod packets at the front desk. They also stocked my room with four additional coffee packets—no decaf which I do not drink.
On top of that they gave me a suite complete with a hot tub. I won't use it. But the room is much nicer and much larger. They have never done this before.
I have to say I am very pleased with the extra care and attention on this visit. For whatever it is worth. I am not sure it is because of a recent review I did for Wyndham, or my diamond member status finally being recognized, or the fact that I am here so often and have been a loyal customer to this hotel for many years?
Either way. Nicely done.
Americinn, 2412 Milwaukee Street, Delafield, Wisconsin.

That's pretty cool that you had such a positive experience. It definitely sounds like that location owner, manager and staff "get it." Rare to see that these days. Hope you enjoy your stay.
I've really never been that lucky with hotel stays, but I did book a BnB in St. Augustine, FL once a long time ago for a romantic weekend with my girlfriend. When I was booking the location, I was asking a lot of questions about the quality and condition of the BnB. I apologized to the person I was talking to for asking so many questions, then explained to him that I was just trying to plan a nice romantic weekend. I ended up booking a suite, and when we arrived to check in, there was a beautiful bouquet of red roses and chocolates waiting in the room, addressed to my girlfriend from me. I had never even asked/requested flowers, and I realized later that when I was on the phone asking so many questions that it was the owner I was talking to. He took it upon himself to arrange the flowers and chocolates. That sealed the deal for me. I make sure to stay there at least once a year, or more, simply because of that one nice gesture so many years ago.

@porwest Interesting. I’ve never stayed in a Wyndham hotel before. I’m a Marriot Bonvoys member, so I always stay in that family of hotels.

The biggest complaint I have with the Wyndham line is that it's not as consistent as I would prefer. It sort of defeats the whole purpose of a franchise, you know? I mean, if I got to a McDonald's in Anchorage, Alaska, or Detroit, Michigan, Or Shenzen (is that even a place?) China...a Big Mac is a Big Mac.
But one Super 8 to the next, or Americinn to the next, or Baymont Inn to the next? You are taking a gamble every single time.

@moffittjc I just can't justify the extra expense for a room. Besides, I like to feed the roaches and the bed bugs. lol

@JimBo452020 It measures roughly 7' long and 5' wide. Is that small?
I only know this because I carry a tape measure with me on the job. lol

Hotels can get it right. A hot tub in my room, I wouldn't want to leave.
