One thing about Roe vs Wade

There are people who are saying that Roe vs Wade was needed so women could get miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies cleaned out.
I don't understand. I thought abortions were to end a live pregnancy, not to save a woman's life by helping her rid her uterus of a dead baby and saving her life from an ectopic pregnancy that could kill her or prevent her from ever being able to conceive again.
I read an article about it. It shocked me because if they are correct, then my Mom who had a miscarriage at 5 months along back in 1970 pre 1973, when she delivered a dead decomposing baby , she had an illegal abortion (even though her gynecologist scraped out that dead decomposing baby).
I say she had a late miscarriage not an abortion.

How could that happen? What would the doctor have done to save the baby?

There is nothing the doctor could do to save an ectopic pregnancy.

@LeaPea2417 I see. This reminds me of my wife 's first pregnancy. Trhe baby was not saved due to the doctor not paying attention.

The medical term for a miscarriage is considered a form of abortion. An abortion is defined as the removable of a baby before term.Or, delivery of a child before it can sustain life outside the mother. Weather it happens naturally, in the form of a miscarriage, you take a pill to induce a period, have sergury to remove an ectopic pregnancy, and so on. Despite the overturning of Roevs Wade, considerations are made to protect woman, if the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother. In some cases either mentally or physically. States very on weather they consider an ectopic pregnancy as a medical emergency or not. In some states, A woman may have to prove that she naturally miscarried. It depends on what state you live in what the laws are. And, a lot of places just don't, know yet. Laws don't change or pass overnight.

An abortion is different than cleaning out the uterus I would think. Have a good weekend.

When I had a miscarriage they performed what was called a dilation and curettage procedure to make sure nothing of the baby was left inside. This was in the 80's, so I'm not sure if they still do this or not.

Pretty has been griping about overturning Roe v. Wade for just those reasons. It's risking the woman's life to "save" a fetus that could never be carried to term.

Sadly they use the same type procedures and it can get complicated depending how they write some of these laws up.
