It was my birthday yesterday. I was 53.
I got a couple of books, a pen and £100 off my Mum and step-dad, and a pen, a packet of glitter pens, a multiple colour pen and some mini note books from my brother, sister-in-law and nephews. I also had some cards.
I didn't go to Church yesterday. I had a day off because it was my birthday.
It was terribly hot yesterday. We thought we were cooking! We opened the kitchen window and the patio doors in the dining room, and closed the blinds.
My Mum went to Church, and because her friend Frances who usually gives her a lift home wasn't there, she walked home. She decided to go the scenic route home, up the cycle path, but she regretted it. It was hot with no breeze, and there was no shade at all up the cycle path. When my Mum got near to the gully which leads to our street, there's a tree there and a branch to sit on below it which is in shade, but a guy was sitting there with his dog. When my Mum got in the gully there was some shade there and my Mum stood there for a while. When my Mum got home she said she felt like she was melting into the ground! She wished she had gone the normal road route.
I had some of my carrot cake for supper, that I'm calling my birthday cake!

@sharonelton - My husband wanted to go for a walk, I told him that at 4 in the afternoon it is still too hot, he did not listen we came back home exhausted.

@LadyDuck I bet he did. I looked on my weather app this morning and the hottest part of the day is going to be 3:00pm-4:00pm.

I don't think there was a cloud in sight yesterday all day! I'm sure we could have fried an egg on the pavement!

@akanetuk You mean usually!? It's been unusually hot this summer. It's broken records for how hot it is! It's promising 40° in some parts of the UK later in the week!.

Your Mother had quite a good excercie, but wish she had shades to walk under to rest. Hope she took some cool water in her walk home. Nice to be remembered on birthday!

@oahuwriter The other weeks when I went to Church they had bottles of water and I picked one up two weeks in a row. I don't know why my Mum didn't do that.

A late Happy birthday to you. My day usually starts very late and because of my bad knees, it goes very slow as well. With all the health issues that I have a day is not long enough for me to get everything done and it leaves me with a lot of frustration. I guess it's normal when you start aging.
