I Consider Myself a Foodie

Yes, I do consider myself a foodie. I think that my mom installs this food adventure thing in me. My mother told me the story of how she happened to eat snake once. I think it stuck with me. I thought it was so cool. Snake. I would never think of eating it but, my mom did. When you read the definition of a 'foodie' it says: "an ardent or refined interest in food" I don't follow that. It is a hobby and I am no gourmet. I am enthusiastic and even passionate about it. Love to try new things within reason and love to eat way more than I probably should of certain foods. I don't understand these people who seem to just eat salads. Ones that only eat to survive. I eat out of enjoyment and probably more than I should. But, when you are a senior and on a limited budget you find amusement where you can. Do you just eat to survive or do you actually enjoy it?

I feel like I am a foodie. I am always on a quest to try something new, that I can make myself, that way I know the ingredients and seasoning. My uncle had to eat a snake, during the 1960's when he was living in Peru. He had to eat it out of necessity, not because he was experimenting with new foods.

Odd how other countries eat things we wouldn't normally.

There are foods I cannot eat due to health reasons and I don’t eat meat due to my own choice but I enjoy the food I eat and I eat enough for me.

@celticeagle Yes, it’s no problem at all. Of course I would like to have a buttery baked potato and a serving of beans.

I enjoy eating although I have never eaten very much. That´s why I have been depressed these days that I have not been well of my stomach. I also love to cook.

@marguicha .........I'm so sorry to hear this. I thought you meant you had been since being sick. Is there a reason or did it just come on suddenly?

I consider myself also a foodie. Eating is a pleasure, you do not cook just to feed yourself, but because you enjoy what you are cooking from the moment you decide what you want to cook.

@celticeagle - I know that my family and friends enjoy, as they do not even want to go out to restaurants anymore.

@celticeagle That's the advantage we can have while at home. We can order foods and anything by phone, by online or by text message to our fave food supplier or the so-called food panda.

I would say I am also a foodie, I really enjoy all kinds of food and I love to make things that I can really enjoy eating and I am interested in all kinds of different ways to make food. When I order groceries I do it once a month but even though I get things that are simple to make or just heat up I do have to have gravy around even on French fries and I have to have cheese on hand and other things to add flavor

I agree with all you said except the gravy. That's not to say I wouldn't like it, just don't have to have it.
