Donald Trump vs Elon Musk

The war of words between these 2 idiots is heating up. Elon Musk (who is the world's richest person) made waves several months ago when he floated the idea of and then formally made an offer to buy Twitter. He offered $44 million. Then he started running his mouth and both the value of Twitter stock *and* Tesla stock (company that Musk owns and whose stock he was going to use at least partially to fund the deal) started tanking. Suddenly it didn't make sense to pay that kind of money for the company and Musk started saying that Twitter was lying about how many of its "members" are actually bots, fake accounts, etc. It was clear that he was looking for a way to get out of the deal. Trump was on Twitter continuously from his first presidential campaign through the loss of his second campaign and the January 6 insurrection attempt at the US Capitol that he incited during his "Stop the Steal" rally that same day. He tweeted religiously every single day and sometimes sent 30+ tweets in a single day when he was on a tear about something. He had *many* followers but it is hard to know exactly how many because, well, Elon Musk has a point and there are loads of bots and fake accounts on the site. Still it was a particularly effective vehicle for Trump to share his deranged thoughts and his sophomoric insults about people he doesn't like. Twitter permanently banned his account on January 8 which was obviously right after the attack on January 6. Trump was insane with rage at being de-platformed. (He also was eventually banned by Instagram and I think YouTube too but I could be wrong on that one) Eventually he created a shady digital media "company" that developed an alternate social media platform: Truth Social. (the name of that is BEYOND ironic) Interestingly he didn't use it for many months after it launched. It wasn't until Musk started talking about buying Twitter that Trump suddenly started posting "truths" (no really that is what they are called) on his site. Musk was asked several times about reinstating Trump's account at Twitter if he were to buy the company. I honestly don't remember if he ever definitively answered but he talked a lot about free speech and whatnot. It seemed clear that he was open to restoring Trump's account. Trump, of course, cannot bear to ever look weak or like he is wrong so he doubled-down and said that even if he was allowed to return to Twitter that he would not because Truth Social is a far superior site. Musk recently announced that he was withdrawing from the Twitter purchase deal. Twitter didn't take that so well and is going to try to force him to go through with the agreement but that is a discussion for another day. What is interesting here, though, is that Trump started bashing Musk for trying to get out of the deal and recently called him a "bullsh*t artist". You'd think that being called that by the King of the Lies would be a compliment but it absolutely was not intended that way. Trump is angry that Musk may not buy Twitter which means that his account won't be reinstated. . . because of course that is what he wants. Twitter was his loudest megaphone. Truth Social is for all intents and purposes a failure compared to Twitter and we all know how Trump cannot bear to be associated with the word "failure". Yesterday Musk said that it was time for Trump to just go away. The quote is: "I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset. Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency." As much as I despise Elon Musk I have to say that he absolutely hit the nail on the head here. It *is* time for Trump to just go away. The part about the Democrats is dead on. The more the Democrats appear to be trying to cancel Trump, the more he will dig in his heels and fixate on returning to the White House. After all this is a man who was motivated to run for the presidency because he was mocked to his face by a black man (Obama) and who then spent his 4 years as president trying his best to undo everything that Obama accomplished. I don't think that Democrats and reasonable Republicans should totally ignore what Trump is up to but I think they need to stop giving him so much attention publicly. He is like a child with oppositional defiance disorder. The more you tell him you don't want him to do something--the more he will do it. I'm sure Trump will have a response to Musk's comments today. It will likely be posted on Truth Social which means I will only find out about it when someone mentions it on Twitter. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Trump has created his own juvenile nickname for Musk too. He seems to think that stuff makes him look big and tough.

Thank you for the update on this fiasco. Can you imagine? If you won the big lottery, YOU could buy Twitter!

I think you have to look at the launch and flight to orbit of Crew Dragon 4 that was happend in May. I truly reflects the sophisitcated technologies of SpaceX in comparison to other manned space mission technologies.
