Good morning from this side of the planet . It's 11:09 AM as I write this post. It's another gloomy day with clouds and constant drizzling. Weather has been like this in the last two weeks. Many states in India are flooded due to excessive rain and even some border regions of our state is also flooded July has been crazy busy so far. But it's been a good one with some great opportunities and good news. Will talk about the new exciting opportunity in some other post as I don't want to bore you with a long post.About the good news, my elder daughter has secured a seat in the most prestigious design school of the country which has a great reputation on the global platform too. So, she is getting closer to her dream. And all that a mother could do is to say a silent prayer and thank the Almighty and all well wishers for their blessings It's my first post of the month. . The little time that I spent here was mostly for notifications and responses. It's thirteen days over and I am just getting close to the first dollar of the month . Hopefully I will make to the payout or else there is always another month with a bigger number Hope everyone is doing good and having a great month. I have a forty minutes break before my next session starts. Today I am working till 2 here as I have to do some assessment for a middle school child after I get done with my regular one to one sessions. Picture is of the yarn balls that I made with two children in the morning session. We took few days to cut the strips, stitch them and then roll into balls. We used some old tshirts of my daughters. It was fun activity and children did enjoy it. Now we plan to do some craft with it. I might share it later. The activity was good to improve focus and for large as well as small muscle movements to help them strengthen it And the basket that you see was made by my younger daughter when she was seven using finger knitting that she learnt in her Waldorf school. It's neat and sturdy Now moving to reading some of your posts. Have a good time in your mylot corner

I was wondering what tee shirt yarn was. It rained several times today, which we actually need now. The scorching sun has dried out the ground and the grass, normally bright green at this time of year, looks like it is the middle of fall. We've been having two weeks with the temps reaching or exceeding 40C here.

Over 40 C would be too hot. I am sure that you would have loved to have those showers in between. That's a big relief. Here the weather situation doesn't seem good in many states including ours. Flooding of many places has affected so many and many areas are still under alert expecting heavy rains for another few days. It's another gloomy day here. We got some sun ( though not so bright) yesterday for a short time in the afternoon. It was so much welcomed. Now we are back to clouds and rain. I got a few ideas about using Tshirt yarns for various crafts. It's a good way to recycle old clothes and also very beneficial craft activities to meet the developmental needs of children. Happy that they are enjoying it

@arunima25 True, as long as the kids are enjoying it, I don't mind if you use up all your husband's clothing. Yeah, I've heard from other Indians that there's a problem with too much rain there. I hope you and yours stay safely above the water.

@DaddyEvil I have used mine and my daughters clothings so far. My husband's clothes are safe Weather is not being kind. While one state is facing drought for years, there are others facing too much of rain and flooding.

Thank you for your wishes. We are happy to see our children inching towards the adult life and their dreams. She is officially an adult now. I guess it's just the initial struggle to adjust to the empty nest. But soon we will get used to it and embrace it. Life is about moving on with different stages

Thank you for your wishes. I went to Delhi last month for the second round of studio test for the same exam. Feeling happy that her hardwork is rewarded and she is inching towards her dream. My younger one is in first PU ( pre University), that would be class 11. She has taken Commerce. She was not interested in Science like my elder one. This was made by her some nine years back in her Waldorf school. She went to Waldorf curriculum till class 10.

@sjvg1976 I was there from 16th June to 20th June. And it was cloudy and pleasant that time. My mom and brother said that Bangalore weather travelled with me too

Since I have mostly cotton clothes mine tend to get worn out and fray or get holes in them which is why I do not donate them. I have had some of my tshirts upwards of 10 years.

Thank you for your wishes . It feels good to see her progress towards her dream. We pray that she continues with the hardwork and gets rewarded for it in future too That's a good use of old clothes. I donate the ones that are still in good condition. Others make good cleaning and mopping piece. Or else these yarns to be used for various things. They make nice rugs too.

@rebelann I too use cotton clothes for summer. I use all natural fibres..cotton, linen and silk. I take good care of my clothes and they last for long. Most of the donation clothes are of my daughters who outgrow them. But now they are 16 and 18 and we don't get enough to be discarded unless they have overused it and are bore. But still it's in a good condition to be used.

Congratulations to your daughter, I am so glad she has a seat in the most prestigious design school of your country. What a great idea to use old shirts to make strips and use them to knit baskets. This one in your picture is cute.

@arunima25 - Little by little is the best for those children, you are doing so much for them. You are right that it is a great feeling to see the children evolve and move toward their independence.

Thank you Anna These children have to learn few more skills and be better with their dexterity before we can take a project lik basket. Hopefully they should make that progress by the next academic. We are taking some small baby steps to reach there. I am happy that they are enjoying the journey. It's a great feeling to see our children move towards independence and their dreams. We can only hope and pray that she continues with her hardwork and gets rewarded for it.

@LadyDuck They are going slow and steady. As long as they enjoy the process and are totally involved in it, I am happy. We do these in between the academic activities. They indirectly help in so much of academic skills too.

The raindrops have lessened recently. I am happy because there's no more leaking roofs and I am sad as well due to having lots of dust flying around.

Oh! None of the situation sounds good. Dusts are common here too due to tropical condition and the ongoing construction work. What about the leaking roof? I hope that you can fix it before it rains again

Thank you Judy.. This is her first step towards her dream. And an important milestone. Hope she continues to be hardworking and work well for her dreams. This basket is neatly done. I got it to these children to show how we can make beautiful things from this yarn. It motivates them. Well, these children have a long way to go before they can actually make such basket. They have to learn few skills and work on their dexterity before we can start with such basket. Well, we have started the journey and they are enjoying it. That's a big achievement for now

Thank you . Craft is a good way to keep them interested and also work towards their developmental needs and skill gaps. We have been cutting strips, stitching them and making balls of them in the last few days. I have noticed a good improvement in their focus, sitting tolerance and dexterity

Thank you from your wishes. Well, I am also talented in my own way but my daughter definitely gets her own unique one. We get too much of rain in our city throughout the year. But when it's continuous drizzling for weeks together with no sun, it gets depressing.
