Good Bye Quincy's

Quincy's Steak House was a fixture here in my town for decades. It was the kind of restaurant where you could order steaks but if you were not wanting that, you could get food from the hot bar buffet. The buffet always had good Southern food to offer. The restaurant was popular. I have many memories eating there with my family and other times when relatives came to visit. My parents liked eating there when they came to visit. In the past ten years, there was two different times when it change ownership. The last time, they closed for good. Then Chic Fil A decided to buy the area. It just tore down the old restaurant building to put up a new building. That was sad to see a video in the local online news , seeing the old decades Quincy building bulldozed. Good bye Quincy's. I will always have fond memories. Is there any place in your areas that are being torn down that you will miss?

Hmm, there was an Applebees that got replaced with an ethnic place. Famous Dave's in Spotsy closed about a year ago..I will have to look not sure what they did with that.

Applebee's was another restaurant that closed here. I never thought it would close. It was here at least 10 years.

It always makes me sad to when I see old buildings being torn down especially if they hold memories for me. Sad it wasn’t just reopened by someone else rather then being torn down and a chain restaurant going up. We just got a chick-fil-a where I get groceries. Doubt I’ll ever go.

Many have bit the dust over the years, including some wonderful department stores.

I agree. There was many years ago a department store here in Georgia called Rich's Department Store. It sold clothes and had a great bakery and restaurant, a pure classic Southern cultural place. It was the saddest day when it got bought out and closed and replaced.

There was a pizza parlor named Little Caesar's Pizza that is located in a shopping mall near a bookstore that was severely damaged in 2020 by Hurricane Laura which has closed for good. I miss that pizza parlor because they have a $5 dollar carryout special.

I remember eating at Quincy's many times. There are so many places gone for good unfortunately. The small businesses are the saddest. Some never came back from the covid times.

That is to bad Quincys went over. DelTaco burned down here and they tore it down. I am hoping they rebuild it.

It is a shame when places that we liked disappear. Despite Covid all our local restaurants are still alive.

It's a shame when that happens. We had a department store in the middle of town that was first opened in 1738. It was the place to go if you wanted any sort of kitchen item - pots and pans, gadgets of all sorts, crockery and glassware, cleaning supplies, cake decorating things - towels, bedding, hosiery and umbrellas and that sort of thing, pharmacy items and fancy soaps, luggage, and a great selection of toys and games of all kinds, as well as souvenirs and Christmas stuff. They closed for good in 2020 and the building is currently being converted into a hotel. It's such a shame. And I struggle to think of where to go for all those little useful things I used to get there!

When I was a child there was a store like the one you mention near. It was so historical. It got bought out by another company and closed for good. It is still sad to think about.

We haven't been here long enough to get too familiar with any of it but going back to the town we grew up in is pretty sad now. It's almost unrecognisable as far as shops go.

None that I can think of off the top of my head. Usually when my wife and I see a place being closed or torn down we say, "Well that's a shame," then realize we were never there. lol
