Postcard from Toronto, Canada

Canada, Toronto, stamps, postage,
United States

I thought I would show the back of this postcard instead of the front because of the cool postage stamps and washi tape. The front has a lovely picture of a Common Loon that is shown in the top left corner. The five cent Canadian miner stamp is from 1957, which is so cool. I love stamps so much, they are an art form in their own category. The orange one on the right is from 1972. Jona writes that she lives in Toronto which is Canada's most populated city. She says it's one of the biggest multicultural cities in the world. I didn't know this before I received the card. She also likes The Chrysalids, a book written in 1955. Have you ever traveled to Toronto or Canada before? If you know anything about the two birds stamp or the hummingbird stamp, please let me know. Picture is mine.

Stamp collecting was a really big deal once upon a time but not so much now.

Yes, stamp collecting was quite popular in the 60s - 70s. I'm still keeping my stamp albums. I have stamps of 18th century China. Worth a bit of money, I guess. lol.

When I was young I thought all the things I like now were so stupid, but stamps now just have an art history I love about it.

Canada is a place I have never been that one day would definitely like to visit. Is this a card you recently got or one from a while ago? I have not received a post card nor sent one in years.

Canada looks really pretty when I see pictures of it. I got this card about five years ago. I joined a site named postcrossing.com and that's where I get and send my cards. Well, I pay for the cards and stamps, but they provide the addresses and it's free. I love it. Maybe you should check it out.

@misunderstood_zombie It does sound interesting, and Canada is high on my list to visit. Someone told me if you want a European experience to visit Montreal. Is that true?

The last time I received any postcard or greeting cards from the post office was 20 years back. I miss those times.

You can still send postcards and receive them through the site postcrossing.com. The site is free and gives you names to send, and gives others your name to send. It's a free and great site.

Its a pretty post card, I love loons. We have been to Toronto, it is only a few hours east of where we live. Its a very large city, very diverse in its population. I believe that the city claims its largest population as it has numerous smaller cities within it. They make up the GTA, which stands for Greater Toronto Area.

That's cool. I haven't a post card for years now after internet explored the earth. Postal offices almost bankrupted for no more senders of postal cards. People mostly used ecards , 123 greeting cards, emoji, gif and more. I had many stamps kept before almost 500 stamps but the box containing them was stolen

That's terrible you lost your stamps. Postcrossing.com is where I go to get names to send postcards, and for others to send me cards.

I've been to Toronto many times because some close relatives live there. Beautiful stamps. I used to collect stamps but not any more because people seldom send snail mail these days.

That's true that people hardly mail anything today. I guess the stamps these days would need to bought new.
