Good afternoon from here in the Philippines. It's 2:15pm of Saturday here in my computer clock. While responding in some of the discussions here in myLot, it's raining outside but still we're opening the AC because of the humidity inside the apartment. Before the rain drops, it's very hot outside. Maybe later, we'll turn off the AC. Anyway, our topic for today's discussion is few minutes ago, I've got a chance to watch some videos on YouTube in which I'll not share here the link because I don't want to. Or maybe some of you already watched it. Some of the YouTubers filmed to hurt themselves just for the sake of having views. You know for sure that every views has an accumulated earnings in YouTube. And as I've checked their number of views in particular that video hurting themselves has already 5 million+ views. Wow, imagine the number and keeps on growing views. That video can even kill themselves. Just to give you example that man swam under the frozen river while his girlfriend is filming. Then, on the video, he tried to escape underwater because he can't find where to go out from another hole. And his girlfriend was not aware that he's almost drowned. And checking the number of subscribers, it's already in millions. Imagine, they had lots of followers with that. I haven't checked some of their videos but for sure that will be more or less about 5 million views again. I have my own channel but I don't want to hurt myself just to gain views and earnings. What if I'll kill myself just to earn with that?

Many people film stunts such as this to get viewers. I would never do something like that.

@LindaOHio I admit, there some chances that I've watched some of the life-risk takers stunts but most of the time I can't finish the whole video.

The fact is that some people HAVE been seriously injured or killed trying to make YouTube videos. I understand the draw of wanting to gain an audience, but I also think there are other venues and ways to do that without killing myself in the process.

@porwest That's correct. If a need to kill ourselves just to earn money seems odd.

Do not even try to do what some people do. Some are professionals, it seems they risk their life but they know what they do.

@LadyDuck Yes even if I can do to risk a life but I will not because I love my family. I don't want to risk my life for the benefit of earning number of views and tomorrow I'll die.

YouTube pays well if a person can get lots of subscribers and the subscribers watch all the videos by that person but nothing is worth getting hurt or dying over. Your wife and sons would miss you and you wouldn't get to see your grandkids when your sons have them.

@cacay1 No, a very, very few people become rich. The odds of the person doing ignorant stunts to draw subscribers is very low. It's just not worth taking a chance like that.

Yes indeed. I love my wife and my sons. If I'll do something just to earn a number of views, a possibility of not to see my grandkids will be in 100%.

There are some people who just have that attitude they want to do something dangerous to look brave and all that. As long as they are the ones putting their life at risk it is all their fault Incase something happens.

It seems majority of the viewers doesn't care about the creators/ behind the scenes and the purpose of creating the video. They seems wanted entertainment and the owner of the channel is sharing to them and delivering to them at any cost for gaining number of views which in return they too earning money from it.

One 15 year-old you tuber was able to build her parents 2.8 million worth house. She might have tricks to sustain her followers or subscribers.
