My movie collection

As I mentioned previously I love old movies. I love movies as a whole. Before streaming is what it is now I bought almost every movie I loved and even after streaming I've bought movies I couldn't find anywhere else or even if I could if I found them cheap enough I'd still buy them so I'd have them in case they were removed from streaming. Over the years I've managed to get a decent-sized collection and probably own more old movies than most people I know.
I used to organize my movies by actor but realized when going to find some of my favorite movies tonight I couldn't easily find what I was looking for. I forgot just how many movies I owned. I have newer and older movies. I don't own many movies that came out within the past five years. I have been looking at a few movies on Amazon that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I bought a lot of my movies before I had my son because I had a bigger disposable income but now that I'm working again I may end up adding a few to my collection that I've been wanting and can't seem to find anywhere else. My husband will occasionally indulge my whims. I tend to buy mostly digital downloads of newer movies and some of the older if I can find them.
I do like having the physical copy though so if I can't access the internet for some reason I have something I can watch. I remember when I thought having a five disc DVD player was the height of technology because I could watch some of the series I had without having to constantly get up to change the discs. I could get a whole box set in there. I laugh now when I binge on Netflix or Hulu. I used to be the person's house everyone came to to watch a TV series because I bought every season of several series on DVD. I was also the go-to person's house to watch a lot of movies because I usually owned it. Now everyone watches things on streaming. I still have several movies you can't find on streaming. I know because I've tried. I ordered a lot of my movies online and had them shipped to me.
My old movie collection is full of movies most people probably haven't heard of like "The Seven Little Foys" and some classics like "Breakfast at Tiffany's" that most people have at least heard of even if they haven't seen it.
I pulled a few movies out to rewatch tonight because it has been so long since I've seen them and I was unable to find them anywhere on any of my streaming subscriptions. I'll be watching them on my laptop since our Bluray player isn't hooked up thanks to a bad cable. My laptop has a built in DVD player as it is an older laptop. Most of my movies are DVDs but I do own a few Blurays just not many. A lot of the movies I own can't be found on Bluray. I'm sure some of the classics can be like "Singin' in the Rain" but I have the anniversary set on DVD. I have the special discs that talk about the making of the movie.

I decided a long time to go not to accumulate a lot of CDs after the kids literally wore out the VHS tapes they liked. I have a DVR with our cable so when I tape movies I like I will just keep them on the DVR until I tire of them. I still have "The Ghost and Mrs.Muir on it that I have had on there for about three years now. I love that movie!

@celticeagle TCM has their schedule posted online and some they definitely play more frequently than others. There are movies I've seen but don't recognize the title of because they were on TV and I didn't catch it or I was much younger and just don't remember. The movie is a silly but cute movie. It's one of my favorites of hers. I also loved "Mrs. Winterbourne" with Brendan Fraser. She played his mom in that one.

@sissy15 ........It is up to the person. I watch TCM so much I usually know which one come on there annually and which don't usually. If it is a real fave I may buy a copy.
Shirley MacLaine is a favorite of mine. I will have to check this movie out. I may have seen it and just don't recognize the title.

That's too bad I wouldn't mind seeing it in a theater. We have a 65" TV that I love watching movies on. Big screens aren't necessary but as someone who loves movies, it reminds me a little of a movie theater albeit nowhere near that size. We also have a big screen and a projector that we use outside sometimes. I'm sure my neighbors enjoy our late-night showings. I figure they probably can't hear it too much considering we live off the highway.

I did used to have a 5 disc dvd player that my mom bought a long time ago.It was good to have when the movies sometimes had up to 3 cds.We watch a lot of movies together but she doesn't like to watch current movies a lot she said it doesn't have that magic as it did before so we watch older movies till now.My mom also arrange our DVDs in alphabetically order.

I used to put a whole season of a TV series in mine and binge watch on my free time. I watch current movies but I agree with your mom the older movies do have more magic. They put much more work into the older movies because they didn't have the benefit of the special effects they use now so back then it was pure movie magic. They put a lot more thought and patience into those movies. My mom likes some newer movies but also prefers the old movies. That is one thing my mom and I will still do on occasion is sit down and watch old movies together because I'm one of the few people she knows who appreciate them. She also doesn't know anyone who likes them as well as I do who knows how to work anything electronic. I know how to use a DVD player and stream them.
