It was a good time we spend today. One of my friends came from the US a few days ago and asked us to meet. Four of us had a gettogether today in Cafe. It was nice to see him after 27 years, he has not changed much except his hair became grey. He told about the struggles he had to face there. He went to the US to study. But finally, he is able to buy a house and has got a good job there. It is not easy to settle in another country when you have no one there whom you know. I won't prefer to go out of the country as he went. Would you like to?

I left my country when I was 16years old and I have been a nomad ever since lol. My husband is Zambian and we moved to Zambia 4 months ago to see if we can settle here. The only reason I’m even considering settling here is because his amazing family is here and I will have support so I applaud people who go out into the world where they don’t know anyone and manage to succeed on their own. I’m not that brave.

To which country do you belong? Even I am not that much brave. This friend told me he left India with $5000 along with him which his father gave and since then he never asked for money from his father.

Many people come to Australia to start a new life. Some find it easy but others have to struggle hard with the language and our ways.

After talking with you for years on myLot, I can see why some people would struggle with the... uhm... odd ways Australians speak and live. Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!

@sjvg1976 kudos to him and to those who can go out on their own. It was my dream as well years ago to work or study abroad but that did not happen because I did not pursue it.

I thought about it for a long time after I proposed to vanny... But decided I had no skills that would translate into good money in India, so no, I wouldn't want to move there.

Yes, it would have been difficult for you to survive here as there is already lots of unemployment here. And when you don't have a skill it's more difficult. What did vanny say? She might have searched for a job for you I guess.

@DaddyEvil I agree, that's why I said it's not easy to settle in another country. I also knew that she will say it because she is very rich and it doesn't matter if you work or not if you stay with her.

@sjvg1976 I have skills in the American market, but nothing that would work well in the Indian market. vanny told me not to worry about it. I didn't need a job there.

It would be very hard to start over in another country unless you are young

I might consider it now that hubby is retired. Not sure I would want to with needing to find work.

Immigrating to other countries is too risky for you don't know their culture, their climate and many more. It takes time to adjust and adapt to their way of life. I would prefer to stay put in the land of my birth.

No, I don't like to settle in other country. I love my country of birth. It's a risk going abroad. We have to adjust everything especially culture lifestyles, attitudes, mind set and more.
