Thinking Of Selling

All of my chickens. I can deal with the raccoons and opossums around. But we have rats coming in again. I lost my young chickens to them. I know they are coming from the neighbors as she leaves food out for the cats and goats all night. She probably has a bunch in the chicken coop also. She used too. Rats usually wont bother adult chickens. But I cant get things raised up easily when fighting with them. Hoping we can hit the lottery. Still havent but will keep trying. Then I can move away from the goofy neighbor.
Enjoying some quiet time right now. The dogs are relaxing and the cats are snoozing. It is looking very cloudy out right now. So when I finish here I am going to get my wagon and hopefully pick up all of those weed piles before it can rain.
Hope you have a good day.

That's a shame if you have to give up your chickens because of rats.
We have another day of sunshine with no rain in sight until maybe Friday. The grass is so dry and getting browner as each day goes by.
Hope you win the lottery so you can move

I am going to try rat X first. It is supposed to be safe if pets get into it. Then I might be able to get babies raised without keeping them in the house until they are almost grown up.
We did get a shower this afternoon.

@wolfgirl569 In my previous home there were huge rats, thankfully not inside my house but in my yard. They've destroyed a lot of things in our garage and even a lot of our clothes when our maid left the laundry outside. We had a vacant lot next to our property and I believed the rats were coming from there. They were as big as the cats. Thankfully, we don't live there anymore.

We started the day with thick clouds and thunder but they've moved on and now it's just some white fluffy clouds floating around. No rain yet.
It's too bad you can't sue the neighbor for the cost of the critters the rats killed... or threaten to since she's calling them and feeding them like that.
I'm ready to go back to sleep. I woke up for a pee break and have been teasing Sam.
Hope you enjoy your day.

@wolfgirl569 It doesn't LOOK like it rained while I was asleep, but the temp outside is 73F at 8 pm, so it did something to bring the temp down. I shut off the A/C when I woke up and started making something to eat.
I wondered if the kitties would catch them or if the rats were big enough to fight back...
I can't help it. He's too much fun to tease!

He seems to play good.

I wish they were white rats then I might be able to say she turned them loose and they reproduced. But they are normal rats. It gets very tiring. I lost baby ducks a couple of years ago to rats.
I seen you were teasing him.

I am going to try putting out rat X. It has good reviews on Amazon and is safe for other animals if they eat it or a rodent that has.

@JudyEv That they do. The bigger problem here is we have weasels and mink. Both of which will follow rat populations to feed on them. Guess what kind of chicken kill I found this morning. I am done.

@wolfgirl569 They put out baits and traps all the time but they can't get rid of ALL of them. They just keep breeding.

@wolfgirl569 We had them a couple of years ago and suddenly I see one of the bananas that are kept in a try being nibbled and that shows signs Peppie is a royal cat. Catch him even looking at them

They have been catching the rats. But I know a couple of years ago the neighbor had them bad enough they would see them during the day. I never let them get that bad here. But that year they got baby ducks.

Rats are really sneaky. I am sorry that you have to sell them because of the rats.
It looks clear here today. And later will rain.

She has critter poop all over so it wouldnt make a difference. She has 2 dogs, goats and chickens. Plus a bunch of birds in the house.

If it gets any worse I will call the health department. But I hate to do that to them. Plus living in a rural area means we deal with more critters anyways.
I may try to get a block type building up at some time so I can have the chickens again.

@wolfgirl569 Not a very clever idea. I mean if she's going to do that you would think she'd throw the food out a long way away from the chickens!

This is all animal feed. But they dont need it laying everywhere. She told me one time that she threw extra feed around the chicken coop so the raccoons wouldnt eat her chickens When they still ate her chickens she didnt stop.

The young ones will run until they have heart attacks. Its a fun game to the rats. I sold everything as weasels eat rats but love to kill and eat chickens too. One of those got my guinea birds before I could sell.
