Hello everyone. I hope your day is going well. It is 91 degrees F and hazy here at the Jersey Shore. I think we might get a storm later which would be great. I am just back from the IOP session. The morning part was very strange. First one guy came in late. He is a real loudmouth and started insulting the counselor leading the group--calling him "greasehead" and I don't even remember whatever even else. It made a lot of people uncomfortable. There was a second counselor in there who did most of the facilitating of the discussion. She chastised another guy and myself for using our phones while others were speaking. I was immediately annoyed because no one has ever said anything about it *AND* because that counselor was fine with like 4 of the women having their heads buried in their adult coloring books. The kicker was when the guy next to me (aka Cellphone troublemaker #2) was discussing sobriety and said that he didn't think you had to abstain from EVERYTHING. His issue is heroin so he didn't see a problem with him going out to dinner and having a vodka and tonic since alcohol was never a problem. I tend to agree with him but I stayed out of it because other women in the group were so outraged and self-righteous about having someone in the group who is still drinking (like once a week) when other people sitting in the room are struggling with alcohol. Eventually they called for a half hour break and the guy left to get something to eat. 3 of the women bashed him and his statements for like 10 minutes. They couldn't see that I was sitting there on the other side of the door. I felt very uncomfortable with that whole morning experience. The second part of it was better. One of the employees at the detox behind the IOP facility spoke about his recovery experience. Then we did our daily "check-ins". Nothing really new on that front. On the way back here I stopped at the liquor store (ironic, no?) to get some tickets for tonight's MegaMillions drawing. It is up to $1.26 billion! There's no way I could NOT get tickets for that. No plans for the afternoon just yet. I need to find something to eat for lunch. What's everyone else up to?
