It’s just too much

August 2, 2022 3:29am CST
It’s a little after 10 in the morning here and two hours ago I woke up to 8 messages of different people in my life testing positive for Covid. All over the world. My friend in Portugal, my cousin in Serbia, another cousin in the US, a friend here locally…etc. It hit me hard as it’s been a while since I had anyone with Covid in my circle. And also what hit me most is that I’m not there to help them. Thanks to technology all of them can send their medical paperwork and my husband can assess it and that makes me feel calmer. The house just felt so small and I went for a walk and ended up on the the street in the photo above. And I know it’s silly but somehow I realized everything and everyone will be alright. Photo is mine.

Yeah, Covid is still out there and people are still catching it. One of my brothers called and said his son has Covid now. (It's the third time this nephew caught Covid. He's a policeman in our city and a lot of people here don't mask or keep away from other people.) I hope your friends and relatives will be okay. Good luck to them.

That’s horrible. Luckily in Zambia everyone still wears a mask and sanitizes. Thank you and I hope your nephew gets a speedy recovery.

@Greencindere Thank you. I don't understand why it's so difficult for people here to wear a mask and social distance. My daughter and I do it every time we leave our house.

@DaddyEvil I will never understand that either. Many people even today don’t think it exists. And it’s not just Covid. A met a lot of ppl all over that don’t believe that diseases are real (pox, HIV,Ebola..etc). It’s mind blowing.

These days I don't get as alarmed when people tell me they're positive for covid. Most of the positive cases these days are asymptomatic. Some may have symptoms but they recover fast too.

@Greencindere That's traumatic. People who have severe symptoms are usually those that are senior citizens.

I still get shaken because of my mom I think. She had the delta variant spent 3 months in the ICU and barely survived and this happened from November to January this year so it’s still fresh maybe.

Sometimes I wonder if Covid will ever go away or if it's something we'll have to learn to live with. I'm sorry to hear about those close to you getting Covid. I hope they only have mild symptoms and will recover quickly.

@Greencindere I didn't really mean "getting used to it" but that taking precautions will just become our new normal. I still take all the precautions when going out even if some people don't think it's necessary anymore

Thank you. So far only mild symptoms and yes I also don’t believe it will go away but I’m still not there when it comes to getting used to it. Still fearful of it and using all measures to protect myself.

Yes, it looks like the coronavirus is becoming widespread again, though it seems like it's mutated enough to not be quite so deadly. Our area has kept the social distancing part up, but it's probably time that we all mask up again. I hope your family and friends all get well soon!

Thank you. Yes also in Zambia Covid measures are still in and everyone masks up but not in. Stay safe.
