Afternoon here but sounds like it is evening

For a few days now, I have heard cicadas or crickets or whatever it is, around our house. You know those insects that are noisy in the evening, that's the sound I have been hearing for days. And the funny thing is, I hear them at daytime, not nighttime! We only have few trees around and am wondering what this mystery is all about.

Crickets sometimes get inside a house and make a noise, day or night time. They can be hard to find once they are inside.

Yup! They seem to like hiding under the fridge or the washing machine... Something heavy and hard to move to get them.

@Janet357 They do sound as if they are everywhere which is why it's hard to pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from.

I heard one a few days ago but it was gone the next day. I would not want to have a lot of those around.

Crickets usually only make sounds at night.

Or, chirp in the house all day. We always manage to get one in the laundry room. It chirps until we wage war on it, find it and, if we can, toss it outside.

Hello! I haven't seen you in a while, how have you been doing? If you're hearing a strident buzz, then it's cicadas. Crickets are a high pitched chirp. And you can hear both any time of the day or night. You're sure you're not pre-diabetic, right? I am, and if I get too much sugar, I will hear the sounds of cicadas any time but nobody else hears it. (The doctor, when I asked, suggested I was hearing my blood "sing", warning of too much sugar intake at one time. I don't know if that's true or not.)

@Janet357 I totally understand. You should spend free time in a way that helps you relax and de-stress from work activities. I'd like it if you were more active again.

I am prediabetic but my husband heard it too. Well, I am busy and sometimes when i have free time, I would rather watch videos on fb. Yes, I have not come here for a while. Wish to be active again.
