Already Thinking About Next Year

I have to say that Florida is definitely a little slice of paradise. I actually look forward to going back, but the fam is talking about going overseas somewhere again next year for vacation. Last year it was Cape San Blas, Florida, and years before that it was Cancun and Cozumel. I enjoyed Mexico. But I prefer to stay stateside, honestly. As I always do, I start getting another vacation budget ready before the next one comes, and this time is no exception to that rule. We've talked about Jamaica or the Dominican Republic. I'd actually be interested in going to Puerto Rico, but I am not sure if the resorts there are all inclusive considering Puerto Rico is part of the United States. I'd go back to St. George Island in a heartbeat. But I guess we will see what decision is ultimately made the closer we get to making some sort of decision. If we decide to go overseas I am still up in the air as to whether or not my wife and I will go along. If we don't, we'll use the money for some shorter, closer jaunts next summer. ***Picture is of my cantankerous self at Paddy's, clinging to my vices.***

I’ve been to both Jamaica and the DR, and both were amazing places. If you do decide to go to either, stick to the main touristy areas, as the crime outside of those areas is pretty bad.

@porwest Safety is always a number one concern when traveling abroad. It’s never a good sign when you go to Mexico and they have soldiers stationed all over the tourist areas.

Crime is always something I am concerned about, even in Mexico when we have gone. Luckily we were in a larger group so I felt a bit better than if it were just the wife and I. But it is always a concern.

@moffittjc Yeah. It used to be the bad guys would leave the tourists alone since even they recognized they were the bread and butter of the country. But a lot has changed.

I have been California a couple of times and enjoyed it, for some reason I have never fancied Florida. I blame CSI Miami!

lol. Yeah, CSI Miami could leave an "impression" of sorts I suppose. lol. I will say I much prefer the panhandle more than more south into the state. California happens to be a state I don't care if I ever visit again. lol

@Ronrybs When I was a kid we lived in San Diego for a while, and actually lived for a short time in Jacksonville, Florida. Being a navy brat and a navy veteran, lived many places though. Points of reference? lol

Love the picture. Keep us posted on your trip/s! We still only have one destination in mind as you well know!

@porwest There is really no hope of us moving to the Keys. Hubs is getting old; and I'm right behind him. If something happens to him, I would have no one down there; and I do need help.

@LindaOHio I am kind of sad to hear that. Retirement is supposed to be about living the life. Not that you aren't. But if it is not what you hoped for...I just feel kind of sad about that. Makes me want to ramp up my planning.

I would assume that would be a "final" destination? I hope you can get there sooner rather than later.

I plan to take a trip to the Nordic countries when the travel restrictions in HK are lifted. Right now, visitors or residents returning to HK have to undertake quarantine at a hotel.

I am glad where I am now there are no travel restrictions. Not even sure if they make any sense anymore. But it is what it is.

@porwest I think HK's restrictions are too strict.
