It’s been an interesting summer. Six weeks of sewing classes for children. I was the instructor. We made a plan and stuck with it. I learned as much as my students and have some ideas so next year it runs more smoothly. It was a success. The children loved their classes. They were thrilled to take home items they had made.

That’s a needful summer class for children. It’s something useful now and in the future.

A creative ability like sewing is an important skill to have, being able to sew allows us of to make small repairs and create new garments. It is very useful in life.

@sica98 I know. I used to make most of my clothes, shirts and pajamas for the boys. I’ve made too many quilts to count and I still make curtains and slip covers. I can’t think of anything more useful than sewing.

What a great idea. I will have to suggest that to our daughter in law's mother when the twins are old enough. She is a great sewer and I hate to see such talent stopped and not shared with another generation, her own daughters never learned to sew but maybe the grands could.

I taught my kids to sew, but they haven’t pursued the interest. They all knit or do other crafts.

I'm glad the kids learn a new skill. And glad that you had a great time teaching them.

They had a lot of fun and have all asked about classes once school resumes.

That surely was an interesting adventure teaching kids to sew. I learnt in school when I was 6.

@Morleyhunt I liked when I took home my completed projects at school. I still have some cotton towels that I embroidered when I was 8 years old.

It was a great experience for all. Most weeks they took home a completed project.

I so wish I lived near my mother so she could have taught me to saw. She always worked when I was a kid, then I married and moved away, so we never got the chance. Now, she is retired, so she would have time to teach me but we are several state apart. what a great talent you are teaching them. I feel like everybody should learn a little sewing. It is so handy.
