Who is Salman Rushdie? He is a famous writer of Indian origin who shot to fame with his award-winning book, "Midnight Children." Rushdie also wrote another controversial book titled, " The satanic verses". This refers to certain verses in the holy book that were removed later on but the book raised the hackles of Islamists and Ayoytollah of Iran signed his death warrant by issuing a Fatwa. Rushdie was in hiding for 32 years but now felt things were better; sadly for him, a fanatic Muslim attacked him and in15 seconds stabbed him 15 times. He was taken by air ambulance and the assailant has been arrested and has pleaded not guilty. It is a sad day today that a well-known writer has been attacked by an Islamic terrorist. it is about time that the world woke up to this sort of terrorism which has no place anywhere. Incidentally, the incident took place close to New York and President Biden condemned the attack.
