My Most Memorable Toy

My most memorable toy of all time was my Crissy doll. I was 7 or 8 years old when I got it as a Christmas present, and I absolutely loved her! I played with her daily until my brother cut off her hair with a pair of scissors. Yes, he was quite a stinker! He was on a personal mission to mess up as many of my dolls (Barbies, Dawn dolls, etc.) as he could! Anyway, do you have a most memorable toy? Maybe not your favorite toy, but the toy you most remember getting and playing with? Here's a link to a Crissy doll commercial from 1970 if you don't know what one is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-1qM3fzJoA&ab_channel=STCaris "Toys collected from the It's Yours, Take It hosted by NoLA Rising at the Hi-Ho" by dingler1109 is licensed under CC BY 2.0.

My most memorable toy is a stuffed elephant I received as a gift after I became an adult. My daughter and I stopped at a "moving sale" when there were almost no people there. Just the owners. And the old lady wanted to show Pretty and I something. (Pretty was 5 or 6 years old at the time.) She took us into the house and showed us a room full of stuffed toys. But, by the door into the room was a sealed cardboard boy. She opened the box and pushed a human baby doll into Pretty's arms and the stuffed elephant into my arms. We wandered all over their property for several hours looking at everything they wanted to sell, carrying the babies with us. When Pretty and I were ready to leave, we offered the babies back to the lady, thanking her for showing them to us. She wouldn't take them, telling me that they were gifts because she knew we'd take good care of them. (Apparently the babies belonged to one of their children who had gotten them as gifts when he was a small child.) The babies sit in a stuffed chair in our living room. We both talk to them if something is bothering us. Things seem to come around fine for us after talking with the babies. Our babies. Photo is mine.

@gtdoss Or, maybe there was a reason our babies were kept separate from the rest of that room full of stuffed animals.

What a wonderful story, and what a wonderful old lady! She didn't know how precious of a gift she was giving you and your daughter!

@gtdoss I brought my Teddy Bear with me through my International moves, first from Italy to France, then from France to Switzerland.

I lost all of my stuffed animals when we moved from Illinois to Georgia when I was a teenager (I think my mom "lost" them on purpose, LOL!)

Yep, I had some of them as well. My favorite was a silky mama cat and her three silky kittens!

My most memorable toy were paper dolls. When I was a kid, Barbie dolls were not available yet. Paper dolls are figures cut out of paper or thin card, with separate clothes, also made of paper, that are usually held onto the dolls by paper folding tabs. I loved to design the clothes for the dolls.

Actually, I remember paper dolls as well. Now that I think of it, I remember playing with paper dolls with cut out clothing for many happy hours!
