Thinking about a fruit salad

I have quite a bit of fruit at the moment, some of which needs to be used up, I would like to make a fruit salad, but cutting up the watermelon seems like a chore. The other fruit, I think I can deal with. The watermelon is already partially cut so it shouldn't be horrible to deal with. It has to be cut sometime, so I can eat more of it. Watermelon is messy and the juices run, but I do have some newspaper I can cut it on.Luckily it is a small one. Do you ever want to make certain things, but they seem like a hassle?

I love fruit, but can't digest it well, so I make smoothies. I put cut up pieces of cantaloupe from the garden into the freezer and buy frozen assorted fruits. Last night I added some Greek yogurt and a frozen banana. It was yummy.

That sounds good. I was thinking back to the early 80's and the Scarsdale diet. If you didn't like whatever was for lunch that day you could eat a fruit salad, as much as you wanted as well as a few walnuts for protein. I ate that alot, almost every day. I did lose weight on it too. I wish I had some strawberries though, that would go good with this.
. Strawberries or bueberries.

@rebelann Yes, lots of ways you could use it, in a slushy etc. Besides it would taste good in the winter when fresh fruits are more expensive.

I want to make broccoli salad but I don't want to spend all the time cutting the broccoli into little pieces. I'm too cheap to buy it already done. I also need to go boil some eggs for work meals but have been putting it off. Today is a good day to get that stuff done and I need to get on it.

Maybe you could buy chopped broccoli which is cheap..you know the frozen stuff and just do the rest of it yourself? Kind of a compromise.

Yah - breakfast, lunch, and dinner

.
We buy those little personal round watermelons so we have little to deal with. In the past I've gotten those huge watermelons that just went to waste - especially if they weren't ripe enough. So the little ones are just more manageable.

Yes, this one isn't a mini, but it is almost that size.

@snowy22315 I've almost had better luck with the sweetness in those little ones rather than the bigger ones. Has it been that way for you too?

I do not remember when it was the last time I ate fruit salad. I eat fruits but never made a salad for a while now. Ice cream with fruit salad would be nice too.

Oh, yes! On a daily basis, LOL! If I had a watermelon, though, I'd probably work my way through the hassle to get myself some of that delicious melon! I guess there are just certain things that are worth the hassle for me, and watermelon is one of those things.

Oh doesnt that sound lovely. I do love fruit salad but it must have no sugar not like the canned stuff.
Yes some things are more expensive for you to make yourself.
I buy the cans of fruit usually and rinse off all the sugar

This was all fresh fruit. Watermelon is cheap and that was the base. I also threw a few walnuts in there for protein. I thought I about putting some canned pears or dried fruit in it, but I had enough fruit. Also I put yogurt on top.

@RebeccasFarm Yeah, it's pretty good. Is it any cooler there yet? Days are probably waning for fruit salads..as we head here towards fall pretty quickly, although there will be plenty of warmer days into Oct..and even November.
