I have this older friend who writes in a diary till today. She had so many diaries in her study room shelves.I couldn't help but stare at them for a moment.I never seem to understand why would someone keep a diary in the first place but I also wanted to know why.So I decided to asked her anyway.
She said that it started only a few years ago after a divorce she'd been through. As she was telling me the whole story of why she started writing in the diary, halfway through I can see she was starting to tear up,I decided then to change the subject.Later on she gave me a peek inside her personal diary showing me her most recent entry .Her diaries were frequently filled with doodles and sketches .She keeps a daily record entries of events and experiences she's been through.
She also told me at one point during our conversation that it was a secure and safe place to express your ideas, memories, personal experiences in life and emotions. The last thing she said to me was that it makes you feel better overall by giving you an outlet for thoughts and feelings.
Do you keep a diary mylotters?
Do you think that having a diary helps a person well being?

No, I don't keep a diary. Some day I may wish I had but, for now, it seems like too much work for little or no gain.

@sica98 But I'd have to read through every discussion since I scatter my thoughts, feelings and what I'm doing every day all over myLot. I rarely write discussions that would be of much use in remembering daily details of my life.

I think it is an escape for a certain people.
I don't have a diary but I keep a devotional journal for my Bible reading.

I used to write a diary when I was a teenager, until I'm in the twenties. Somehow, I didn't feel like doing it anymore.

When I was a teenager I was so fond of Diaries. I include the time, date, and details of the events. Up to this day, I write my journal in my diary.

If I ever wrote one,I don't think I will be selling them at anytime.I don't like the idea of sharing my private thoughts for the rest of the world to see.It sound creepy knowing someone reading everything about you.

I would love to have the discipline to journal or keep a diary! I've started them in the past, but I never developed the habit of writing in them every day. I think it would be cool to be able to look at an entry from years ago and see what I might have been thinking back then!

I do a video diary yes. Every December I go thru it and reflect. I tried writing a dairy when I was younger but it didn’t work for me. Talking actually does work for me and saves me tons in therapy money lol.

My father also keeps Diary entries.
He is very regular and particular with the entries.
I started the practice but did not sustain it.
It is a good habit and can help one keep stress at bay but with the kind of random things cropping up and a lot of them, it becomes difficult to manage such activities.

I do not but it must be therapeutic for your friend to do so.

I kept dairies all through my growing up years and into adulthood and even later, Then one day I looked through all my diaries and thought, When will I even read them again and why would this interest me? So I wrote down some of the important life events I wanted to remember and pulled out some pages and just through the whole lot away, Now I just have notebooks about the things I do online, what I post and what I plan on doing each day,

I used to keep a diary. I wish I had continued. It's interesting to go back and read about what I did and thought when I was a teenager. I think it helps to be able to write about your feelings.
