Clutter = $$

If you're anything like me you downsize your stuff before you move and then once you move you decide that you will never have that much clutter again.
Then little by little things make their way into your home. Almost like fairies are doing it during the night.
Well, that happened to me. As in, when we moved from one end of the state to this end we downsized a lot. And I swore that I wouldn't have that much stuff again.
Now? Now, I have 6 storage tubs of yarn. 2 of which you could hide a 5'2" adult in. Full of yarn. More yarn than I can use in a year. Not enough yarn to start and complete a project in one color. Nope, will have to buy more yarn to complete projects.
I have decided to start getting rid of some of my clutter. I sell things on Facebook. Some stuff I list on Marketplace and others I list in my local Dollar Auction page.
I started getting serious about getting rid of the clutter 2 days ago. I realized that I needed gas money and no way to get gas money. So I started going through my home and seeing what I could list for sale.
The other main reason I want to declutter as much as possible is I would rather my home be filled with stuff I'll use versus things that just take up space.
I started diamond painting and fell in love with it but decided that I will only buy diamond paintings that I plan to hang up around my home as decoration.
My final reason for starting to declutter is the sheer amount of things that I own. When my youngest graduates high school and moves out I will be moving into a RV and cutting my living expenses drastically. Or, I will be driving truck over the road and will be limited to whatever I can fit in my truck and the smallest storage until I can find. I have offered to my kids when I go over the road to pay 1/2 rent on a 2 bedroom apartment that I will never spend the night at and just use my room as storage space. That way they can have a bigger home and I know that my items are safe.
I have seen how much someone just donated because they went from a 5 bedroom home to a 1 bedroom condo and couldn't fit everything. She gave so much away and was sad about it and I just don't want that to be me.
With my yarn I knit and crochet and my favorite part is buying the yarn and making the item. Then I donate it because I don't want it cluttering up my space.
My biggest collection after yarn is candles which live under my bed. I am not buying any more candles in 2022 and the goal is not to buy any for a good chunk of 2023. I currently have 63 candles. Yep, SIXTY-THREE candles. I didn't know I had that many until I decided to make a spreadsheet noting what scent, where purchased, and if I liked it enough to buy again. My goal is to get down to about 10-20 candles before I buy more. I only buy Woodwick or 3 wick candles and mostly from Bath and Body Works. I wait for candle sales because you will not catch me paying $26 for a candle when I can get it for $11 on sale.
Now when I purchase items I look at long term and cost. Is this something that I will have space for in my new home in 7 years? Is this something I really want right now or can I wait until it goes on sale? Can I find this online cheaper on Marketplace?
I figure planning for a smaller home will help keep my hoarding in check and will help me make wiser purchases.

WE have been thinking about moving again, but the thought of packing is definitely wearing heavily on my mind about what to do.

That's a wise decision. Especially if you can sell it.

I'm with you. I definitely need to declutter my apartment as well. I have so many things I no longer need. I guess I just have to set time aside to get things done. I do want to move and start all over again. Gutter takes up space and leaves little room for love.

I also have my eyes on diamond painting. I am wondering if I will like it. I love scented candles too.
