Once it’s gone, it’s gone!

I wrote the other day about how the girls and I had all learned to dive together when we had a week of intensive swimming sessions.
I’ve been swimming another two or three times since then, and it’s so strange how completely things have changed. My fear of diving into the pool has completely evaporated. Now I can walk up to the side of the pool and dive in, just like that!
I can’t even understand what I was so afraid of before, it’s like trying (and failing) to understand another person. In this respect, as L. P. Hartley said, the past really is a foreign country.
If this inspires anyone else to get over their fears and try something new, it will a bonus!

Oh, I remember my first dive as well. It was the same thing: At first I was so afraid to dive but after the first time, there was no stopping me.
Now I can dive from a standing position; I can run and dive and I can dive off of the diving board.
I'm not a pro by any means but I did get over my fear.

Congrats on getting over your fear. I don't dive anymore because its not safe. But, it's good that you can.

It is amazing how a little work and effort can make something so much easier and alot more fun.
Our son and his wife went thru that a couple of years ago when they got their stand up paddleboards, standing up on them in the water without falling was a challenge, but they finally figured it out. Now they love it.

That is very true that many fears we all have like being scared of frogs in my case are like a foreign country.

I love swimming. So I'm not afraid of water. Talking about fear. I was bitten by a dog when I was a child. Since then, I've been very scared of dogs. It took me quite a long while overcoming this fear.

I learned to swim but never well, and I always would swim in pools where I felt safer in the shallow end. I have never even thought of attempting to dive,
