Good News from the Attorney front

I had emailed the attorneys that I was hoping to hire to handle my lawsuit against the power company that burned down my home. I wasn't holding my breath because of the amount of time that had passed, I figured that they wouldn't want to be bothered. This afternoon my phone rang, and I grabbed it and checked who was calling. It was the attorneys!!! The legal aide wanted a few questions answered. I filled her in on what had happened and that it wasn't a large number of structures that had been destroyed or damaged. (She wanted the name of the fire) I then told her that I had copies of the paperwork from the California Division of Forestry, who had fought the fire, and other paperwork that might help them decide. She brightened enormously and asked me to email it to her. Yeah right!!! There is about 50 pages, and I don't have a scanner. I told her that, though she didn't quite comprehend that NOT everyone has a scanner and can send things via email. But I finally got it through to her that I would locate the paperwork and get it packaged and sent to them. As I told her, I can't afford to allow the power company to destroy my life and not get any restitution from the loss. After all everything, including my beloved critters, was destroyed. The fire started from a surge from one of their pieces of equipment that had been in place for over 40 years (they never did any work on the wiring while I lived there the 40 years). The fire went into my breaker boxes and started the place on fire. I was in town at the time and came home to seeing the flames reaching into the sky. So, maybe, from all the disaster I might get some restitution and maybe even an "We're sorry we burned down your home." Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Glad to hear you were in another city and I can imagine the shock when you arrived and saw your house on fire. I sincerely hope you get justice in this case. That's the bare minimum.

When I bought the new copier I had to get I was surprised to discover it was not a scanner. Seems people just count on taking a picture on their phone and uploading it. 50 pages is too much for that, though. Just make sure you have copies. Maybe it could be faxed? Department on Aging faxed things for free when I had to do paperwork with my sister and send it to the insurance.

I am wishing you the best that you will receive financial assistance from the power company that through their negligence caused you to lose your home.
