Thanks to the efforts of the Leland Fire/Rescue who received assistance from the Winnabow Fire Department, they were able to rescue a bearded dragon and two cats who were trapped inside of a home that was on fire yesterday afternoon.
I am sure that the owner of the home in Mallory Creek called 911 to report a fire had started inside of the home as the owner did leave the home after he or she called 911 but he or she forgot to take the animals out of home with them.
When the Leland Fire/Rescue firetruck arrived at the scene of the home that was on fire, they did not see any evidence at first.
It is when the Winnabow Fire Department arrived shortly, they entered the home that was on fire and they encountered heavy smoke when they found two cats and a bearded dragon inside the home as they were able to get them out of danger quickly.
The firefighters at both the Leland Fire/Rescue and Winnabow firefighters were able to put out tire quickly. Thank goodness no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the authorities. The damage that the fire caused appears to be minor to the point where the owners of the property will not likely be sent to a temporary home assigned to them by the American Red Cross.
For the record, I would never want to own a bearded dragon as a pet..

If I had been the owner of the animals, I wouldn't have left the home until I got the animals out safely. But, of course, everyone here at the lot knows how I feel about my critters and their safety. I wasn't home when the fire started, and when I got home my main concern was the safety of my critters.
I am not sure about having a bearded dragon as a pet, but if one needed a home I would probably relent and adopt it.

We all have our views of taking care of our pets during fires in general. I am sure that my relatives would take care of the cats and get them out of harms way first during a fire.

@Deepizzaguy I just spoke to my neighbor/adopted sister. I asked if she would be my emergency contact, and she said "OF COURSE!!!!!". I'm positive she would save my critters if there were a fire and I'm not home. She is as crazy about them as I am. Like I keep bragging about Petey, he is curled up in my work box beside me, keeping an eye on me in case of an emergency. I get the feeling he would know how to dial 911 to get me help.

No thank you since I would rather have a Rottweiler as a pet than a dragon as a pet.

@BearArtistLady My late dog who was a mixed Rottweiler and Black Lab named Poochie was a kind dog herself.

@Deepizzaguy We had Rotties not too long ago. I still miss them, their names were Rocky and Kitty. I named mine because I could see the reactions of my neighbors when I called for her "Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.". Anyhow their great dogs and they don't live up to the rep that many people have bestowed upon them. They are very sweet dogs if you raise them with love and caring like we did. I would love to have another one, but in the apartment I'm in they don't allow them because of the bad rep.

I don't really understand how someone could forget to get their animals. Afraid of the fire maybe but still.......?!

@Deepizzaguy .......Yes, I guess they did. I would be in such a state if there was a fire in my home I am not sure what I might do but, I would certainly try to get my animals out if at all possible.

That is true even though I am sure that the pet owner had faith that the firefighters would save the pets.

I think I have seen a bearded dragon before on television. I would not have one a pet either.

I would have a Rottweiler mixed breed as a pet than a dragon.

Oh thank goodness the pets were rescued.
The owner was in panic mode to forget that the pets are still inside.
I won't own a dragon as well.

I am sure that the owner of the home did act in panic by leaving the cats and the dragon as well.

Due to the bad weather around the nation, fires are starting to cause damages these days.

I understand panic sets in with some and they forget things like their pets.
Thankful the firefighters were able to get it under control with minimal damage to the home. And extremely thankful the pets are good.
Two of my cousins had a bearded dragon for pets. One called hers Puff which we all laughed about. Sadly he passed. My other cousin has had one for about a year now, I think she calls him Bob. I wouldn't want one as a pet either. I stick with kitties.

That is true since pets who are saved from passing away in tragic incidents are great stories.
