Have you been talking about what could be #1 on this list of favorites with “talk” in the title? You can stop speculating! There’s probably no surprise, if you think about it (and my goofy tastes). Here it is, the top talker of the bunch. #1: Girls Talk - Dave Edmunds A moment of silence for John Roberts. If he were still here, he’d chew me out for not using Linda Ronstadt’s rendition from Mad Love. And her version is good. In fact, my “least favorite” (and that’s in quotes for a reason, it’s hardly that I don’t like it) rendition is writer Elvis Costello’s! He recorded it after Edmunds and Ronstadt’s versions were out, and his sort of sounds like the lyrics of the song sung to the music from “Watching the Detectives.” Gee, if that’s the worst thing I can say about it, you know it’s good. Dave Edmunds was sooo good looking back then. While I got to see his partner in crime, Nick Lowe, twice, I never saw Edmunds. He’s retired now and 78 years old.
