Jeremy McKenney, a long-time Boise resident, was priced out of his apartment at the end of July and is now living in his car. He was living in a Boise West Bench apartment with his two kids that he cares for part-time but when the rent skyrocketed he could no longer afford to pay it and was evicted. With child support, paying for his car, and living expenses he finds it very hard to save the thousands it would take to get into another rental large enough for him and his two kids.
McKenney contacted Jesse Tree of Idaho which is a nonprofit that offers homelessness provision services to Idaho residents. Their service was able to work with his property management company and avoided his formal eviction which would have only given him three days to vacate. With Jesse Tree's help, he was given a month to move.
Many lower-income Idaho residents are being pushed out of their homes due to limited housing and soaring prices. There has been a 36% uprise in evictions in the Treasure Valley compared to the same period last year. There have been 694 tenants in Ada(where I live) and Canyon counties taken to eviction court with about 500 last year.
How is the rental situation in your area?

That must be nice. I wish I had bought a home way back when I was making good money.

@rebelann ........I had a nice mobile home for a few years. They don't seem to stand up to time very well.

@RubyHawk ..........There sure needs to be some changes. That's why I was excited about the up in hourly wage for fast food workers in California.

It's happening all over. We have encampments along one road that passes a park. And I'm sure there are others deeper in the park, in the wooded area.

I think rents in the area are much more affordable; but then again I haven't checked in a long time. It's terrible when someone gets priced out of their living quarters.

Those residents we have being evicted from the lot they're renting were relocated by the government to a relocation site bought by the government for them. And it's free.
