Introducing Quacker Duck

One of our duties at our house-sit is to feed Quacker Duck if he turns up wanting some food. Quacker Duck is a wild duck which has become slightly tame and comes to the house every few days expecting to be fed.
Our hostess seemed a bit worried about him but I will be able to send her a photo of him tucking into his birdseed. When we see him, we’re to make a ‘prrrt’ noise which we did.He answered and came to his bowl so all is well. He has a handful of seed then you fill the bowl with water.
People are a bit funny about their pets, aren’t they?

@allknowing If it were me, I'd be wondering where they went and if they had a happy life or whatever.

He came again this morning too. I know his 'mum' will be relieved to know he's coming for his meals.

It sounds like Quacker Duck is a stray or a bird that maybe does not get enough food at home and comes looking for more. I would say people that have pets either care or do not care about their pets. I have one cat at home and worry about her being happy. People that care about their pets do worry about them and want to make sure they are happy I would say. That is how I would put it. So, how is the house sitting going? How are the other two residents and are they behaving?

He turned up again this morning and has had his breakfast. His Mum has left three huge bottles of seed and shown me where there is more. She is worried he will run out of food but he'll never get through what she has left for him.

I'm glad their duck responded to your call.
Yeah, some people are a bit on the odd side, but that's part of what makes our work turn.

@JudyEv It's probably best that you don't see me with my fishies.

@DaddyEvil Oh of course! I'd forgotten about your fish. Do you still have some? You haven't written about them lately.

He is very pretty. I can see her worry as he might have been shy of strangers.

@wolfgirl569 I never pressure animals. If you let them come to you, or make the first move, it generally works better.

Wild animals are rarely friendly and rarely come close to human beings. The duck looks lovely.

I'm in love with Quacker Duck. We used to have two wild mallards for about a year. They each had a different personality.

@LindaOHio There is another pair that come nearly as often so we've been feeding them too.

The little duck must be trained for the noise for feeding & water, cute for it's wild.

The Quacker Duck is smart. He knows where to go to get some food.

@Beestring It doesn't take long for them to wrap us round their little finger (or their wing!) lol

He is a pretty well trained "wild" duck. I bet it is fun to have him visit.

He turned up again this morning and has had his breakfast. He is pretty cute and we sort of 'quack' to each other.

You may not be his regular server at this restaurant, but you put the food out on the good china, so of course he's gonna eat.

I hope Quaker Duck will stay in your yard for good so he will have a comfortable and safe home, and always have a full tummy.

I see nothing wrong with that. Of course, I go into my backyard and call for the squirrels to come and get their peanuts……
