Struggling

I am a university graduate but I am currently unemployed. I do apply in a lot of companies and attend interviews. I always get a job offer after the interview. But the reason I do not accept the job every time is that they won't give my asking salary. I know I have the experience and my skills are what they needed. I just can't believe these companies in my country would rather hire someone who has the lowest asking salary but still lack the skills than someone who they really need. My asking salary is not that high and it is what I believe I deserve. I am consistent in telling what my asking salary is when asked, not only because I deserve it but it also keeps my dignity as a human.

You know people are going to want to pay less money. So of course, the people who ask less get the job.

Because companies also want to save on salary.

@florelway That's also true. If they can find someone who can do the same job for the least, they'll go for that because often that's a more appealing quality to them.

@aleahcim0827 I am a senior citizen and still actively working. I had experienced several jobs since I was in my teens because I cannot afford not having my own money. I experienced to be between jobs and did sideline activities as a self employed one. Salary for me was only a second priority because what's important was I get the job and I can just prove my worth once I am inside the organization. It worked well for me. I worked with a private company applying for a secretary but after some years I became Vice President for Marketing and Merchandising. When I turned fifty I joined the government starting as a job order at a very dismal salary but my intention is to be part of the organization equipped with my qualifications and I am now head of a department.. What's important is we make use of the available time we have to have a meaningful and significant life.

@yoalldudes Thanks. I joined Government in 2009 with 165 a day or some 3 dollars a day, it was better than earning nothing. I became casual in 2010 then appointed as permanent in 2012 with salary grade 11. I was floated for 3 years because I am associated. with a certain politician. I was promoted in 2020 to salary grade 18 then in 2021 I got my appointment to grade 24. Everyday is struggle because it's what life is. Everyday we're faced with pressures, stress, challenges etc. lol it's part of living. I hope you're in great shape at the moment.

Yes I can understand. Companies always low ball and then have to look for someone else when the person they hire is not competent instead of hiring someone that has the skill.
They are cheap.
I pray you find suitable position with good salary.

You have to do what you think is right, but there comes a time that you might want to think about accepting a job and starting out low, and then have an understanding with the company to re-evaluate your work in maybe six months and then ask for a raise. Good Luck!!

There is lots of competition these days in the market and the people who ask for a lesser salary but good skills are the ones who get the job. It happens when there is lots of population of unemployed people and there are fewer jobs available in the market.
Hope you get a job and the salary you expect from the job.
