Camper Journey #1

I guess in a way it is sort of like a daily or periodical "what I had for dinner" post. Although, in this case it is "when am I going camping?" You will have to read some of my previous posts to get the reference on that one. lol It is no secret that I have Gator from Camping World working hard for me to match me with the perfect camper. And he will be sending me information and pictures of things that come in. I thought it would be fun to share the "journey" with you as I explore options and explore what he sends my way. I wish that myLot allowed for more pictures. So I will have to be selective in what I share here. But of course there is no limit to how many posts one can do, and I can share thoughts about individual pictures of each camper as we go along. I appreciate your thoughts and comments along the way as well. So far he has sent me some pictures on one via text but I don't have all the other details I need to see. Those are supposedly coming, but so far nothing. But this is at least a side shot—I saw the pictures of the inside and it looks nice but I need to know more before I drive an hour out there to see it in person. $29,900. I will keep you all posted.

Is that new or used? Price seems very cheap for new.

That's what I was thinking, too. I don't have a problem buying used, but he should know he's buying someone else's problems when he buys used.

Used. I don't feel the need to buy new so long as it is in good condition and well maintained and has all the features that I want. I am being very careful and cautious, and while I am not one to ever buy warranties, I will buy a warranty on something like this. I will also make sure I have cash on the side for anything unexpected that may come along.

@DaddyEvil I have bought cars used for years. It all comes down to doing one's homework to get the right deal for the right price with the right conditions. I am not trying to sound arrogant, but it is not my first rodeo. I know what to ask and what to look for. It is similar to making a business deal. Show me the balance sheet, the books and everything else, and if there are red flags, I will find them before I commit to a deal.

Kind of in a way reminds me of the RV we had growing up. I can't wait to see what you wind up chose.

@kaylachan We went to an RV show yesterday in St. Louis and it was a lot of fun to just look around. They didn't have much in the way of pull behinds in the style I wanted though. But it was still fun.

Honestly, Jim, without knowing any details other than seeing the picture you posted, I think that camper is a pretty good value at $30k. Although it doesn't look like the sides slide out. But it does have the awning, and that will provide you with extended outdoor camping space that is protected from the sun. I know your criteria may be different from mine, but since I'm such an outdoor enthusiast, my main area of concern in an RV would be the sleeping arrangements, since that would be about the only time I would be inside the RV (other than when it's raining). Otherwise, my "RV time" would be spent more sitting outside the RV in some lounge chairs around a campfire than anything else.

@porwest Yeah, having space can be very important. My aunt has a pull-behind very similar to the one in your photo, and it has double pull-outs. It does seem pretty roomy inside.

@moffittjc They have just enough room to enjoy the little time you will spend inside. Plus, like I told Gator, I need room to make an escape if I piss my wife off. lol

I am the same way in that most of the time being outdoors is the place to be. At the same time, inside, I just don't want it to feel stuffy or cramped. I need room to roam, so to speak, when I am inside, and so the double slide outs in the main kitchen/living area is a must for me. Yeah, this one actually had one slide out, so not enough space for me. Besides, Gator got it wrong. Too heavy to boot. But the price is spot on.

@RubyHawk That was sort of my thinking. I can share the links so people can see what I am looking at, and people could let me know yay or nay or let me know other things I may not have considered. I still have to look at the link @FourWalls sent me about Camping World.

As one know now, I decided to make a bit of a series out of it. I guess it could be fun for my myLot buddies to be able to shop with me.

@LindaOHio Even when it comes to cars, the best deals are from those that are not new. I have only bought one new car in my entire life and vowed to never do it again. New has never been a guarantee of less problems, at least for me.

It is used one, but I don't know how old it is. I still don't have the information on it although Gator says I am his first priority this morning to get me the information. We shall see. lol

Probably nothing. You can buy them new for around $60k, and that would be on the high end. For pull-behinds.

Turns out it is actually $24,999. But when I looked at the specs it is too heavy. Thought Gator and I discussed that—but I did let him know. Plus it only has slide-outs on one side and I want them on both sides. But price-wise, yeah, I mean new they run about $50k-$60k for pull-behinds, so this pricing is in line.

@1creekgirl Sticker shock would be busses than run you up into the six-figures on up to a million. lol Even the small van mobiles were running about $102k—but I felt like I was in a tin can. lol

I have no idea what the costs are but that sounds like a good one. I am surprised you can get one for that amount actually. I know you will check out the bugs and warranty, etc.

Is that an RV which you dreamed to buy? The cost is $29,900 which is equivalent to Php 149,500. That's a good buy.
